Hello good peoples!  Question - I have AllBests latest on Canon SD-870 IS.  I'd like to be able to use a setting or a script to force the camera to a focal length of my choosing.  Reason:  I'd like to force say, 30mm not 28mm, as optical performance is a typically a bit better when not at the very extreme of the focal range.

So my question, how can I force 30mm?  Or any mm focal range I wish?

Thanks in advance!

yes, possible via script. not with a setting, however this is an already planned feature - zoom override. shouldnt be too hard to code, however needs a maintainer.

Can the camera (mine is an A710) be set to start up at a "normal" 50mm equivalent focal length? It always starts at 35mm, so usually I have to fiddle around setting the focal length before taking a picture.

Did I miss this item of progress?

You could do it with a autostart script.
