I have a SX20is that works fine.
We just ordered 2 refurbished SX20is.  They will not start with a locked disk.
I took the disk out of my camera and put it in the other one.  You have to open the battery compartment to reset the camera to use it again.  Even in just playback mode, it will not start.

Anyone else run into this?
I can not get the version number to work on them either.
Canon's rep said that her's works the same as my older SX20is.  She did not think they did anything different.

There are three released versions of CHDK for the sx20is, each one for a different firmware version.   You need to use the one that matches the firmware version of your camera.

especially the link to ACID if you are having trouble with the firmware version.

EDIT1 :  Its not clear from your post - did you get CHDK to work on your original sx20is ?
EDIT2 :  did you really succeed in getting the Canon rep to help you with CHDK ??

Dump ist almost identical to 1.01b, only 2 differences:
* 101b is for the european market ("Canon IXUS 115 HS" identification), 101c is the US version ("Canon PowerShot ELPH 100 HS")
* Canon fixed a typo in german GUI language: "Nauchtaufn." becomes "Nachtaufn."

I just got a black A800 that ACID shows as having 100c firmware.  I made a dump with the Universal Dumper script (extend.m and script.req style) and I've uploaded it over here at box.com.  For what it's worth, here is a link to the A800 porting thread.
