SX100IS stuck in Playback mode :(

  • I'm a bit of a newb to the CHDK world, so excuse me if this is a dumb question, but... I just got an SX100IS running 1.00C, onto which I promptly loaded the latest allbest build of CHDK (#51-442 built 20080712 21:33:48). After properly preparing my SD card (formatted, made bootable, extracted the CHDK ZIP, and locked), I inserted it and switched on the camera, only to find it will only allow me to use playback mode. If I attempt to switch to record mode, the camera powers itself off. What am I doing wrong? :[

  • You know what, I just figured it out. I hit the shutter a half-press and into record mode it went. Feel free to lock this thread, or keep it around for others to learn from my stupidity. :) :)

  • Since you figured it out, I don't see much "stupidity" in evidence...!! 8)

Have you tried a shoot half auto start script?

  • Yes, autobuild works.

I just tested your build on a freshly formatted SD card, just to make sure it has nothing to do with some files on my card, but still - doesnt work.

Yes, that works. But even with your new build i need to hold the buttons for at least a second.   ???

My last attempt here. If it not works properly, I stop my work on this.

    I wrote about this here.

So, in file loader/sx100is/resetcode/main.c line 94 can be commented-out:
                            "LDR     R0, =0x12345678\n"
                            "MOV     R1, #0x40000000\n"
                      //    "STR     R0, [R1,#0xFFC]\n"     <-------------

Look also to G7 loader: loader/g7/resetcode/main.c:

       "MOV     R3, #0xFF0\n"
       "LDR     R1, =0x12345678\n"
       "ADD     R3, R3, #0x4000000C\n"

       "LDR     R2, =0xC0220204\n"    //  power
       "LDR     R2, [R2]\n"           //  button
       "AND     R2, #0x10000\n"       //  is
       "CMP     R2, #0\n"             //  pressed?

"STREQ   R1, [R3]\n"           //  if not, store value
