Great surprise to find a 101b build this morning! I didn't expect anything significant until this weekend. 😛

Unfortunately when I run it the menu is over only half the screen and flishy-flashy so can't tell what I've got. Looks like RAW is ON by default, but the camera bricks after each shot, and the CRW files that get recorded are not viewable with any app that I have. The real time histogram at half-press is working -- a feature I've always wanted on my powershots.

For the flashy menu, disable props case show menu in debug parameters.

Raw files were reported to be ok, strange. Are you using a proper application?

I don't have a clue what that means, never having used CHDK before.

I have Canon RAW codec installed on XP, and tried using Photoshop elements, ACDSee, Irfanview.
In contrast I have no problem with my EOS 40D RAWs, but I think they use a different RAW format, designated with .CR2 file extension.

Wow, this is simply amazing! It boots in my 101b cam without problems, and the live histogram is great! Navigating the menues and changing settings works like a charm, and I am a bit overwhelmed by the options!

I can confirm that shooting in RAW mode crashes the cam. Did not inspect the file yet. The blue direct print light shines up, but after that -> silencio. But, hey, this is soo cool! 😁

Edit:
Well, the camera does not crash after taking a RAW shot but reacts to the power off button only after the shot was taken. The display goes dark also.

The raw file is fine and writing is fast! UFraw says: "Cannot use camera white balance, reverting to auto white balance." But the picture is there in it's full glory! Great!

I had that too, the solution is easy. In the CHDK main menu there is an entry "Debug parameters". Have a look there!

I really dont have time lately, but i managed to compile another build to fix some glitches

Changes:
- previous bug fixed, now you can see live histogram, clock, battery, space, the lot! camera LCD really looks supercool 😎- histogram in playback mode now shows correct histogram (ALT + UP + HALF SHOOT)

Had I seen (recognized?) a Main Menu, I would have looked there.
as it is, what shows is something like the following (on part of the screen), flashing on top of some other stuff, including the CHDK Logo:

1. Power camera on in shooting mode
2. Press the direct print button (the one with the blue light) and notice blue <alt> on display
3. Press the menu button
4. Navigate down to "debug parameters" with the cross
5. Press func set
6. Switch debug data display to none with func set
7. Press menu again
8. Have fun
9. Switch off RAW shooting for now and have even more fun... Edit: (RAW saving works now!)

Unfortunately, that didn't work.
At least not until I pressed it a couple of times.

When I changed the debug data display to none and went back, the camera bricks with the lens extended.
I'll try reloading CHDK onto the card to reset it and see what happens.

Reloaded CHDK onto the camera card.
All is well-behaved (except the issue with one-at-a-time RAW shots)
One minor difference is that I deleted the ver.req file (keeping the vers.req file). I do not know if that was the source of any of my difficulties in accessing the ALT menu, or the bricked bahavior that followed, but:
Now I am having fun, fun, fun. 😀

One (minor) issue is that the [ R G B ] histogram mode displays the third histogram mostly off-screen.
Still cannot decode the RAW files. I have downloaded and will install the latest UFraw with GIMP to see if that helps.

Yes, and maybe switch off "save RAW" in the RAW parameters submenu for now, as shooting RAW brings the cam in a not very responsive state. Good luck.

Tested in 101b. No more RAW lockups here too, the image quality is stunning (UFRaw)!

Well I can see the menue and so on - need to check the manual, what its all about - basicly I tried RAW-Shooting, so I put it on (the little dot inside the field) but it still doesn't seem to work 😉 there is some stuff flickering through the left edge (eggtimer, started interrupted or sth ^^) and it doesnt take pics (but it does with RAW switched off)
after some while trying then the display turns black with the lens extended as described before

as gho says it ran with his cam, what did I do wrong? 😉

Are you sure you took the right bin image for your firmware? version 101b does not stuck on raw.
For the flickering artifacts, move through the menu to enable/disable any appropriate infos you might need.

that sounds like your trying to shoot pics while in <Alt> mode (default script will run then)...
remember, you only need to go into <Alt> to set CHDK options, after you did that leave <Alt> and then
take pics.
