Thanks, i already use ufraw. Now i see, the chan. multiplier. But has a problem, ufraw color very good, but my problem, only one raw dark file supported. I not have any tools to process good master dark picture (iris can, but not save to raw file, and 16 bit tif ugly signed tiffs? -327168 0 32768?). And one normal long exposured picture very noise, of course many pictures needed and average in raw. Other problems the bad pixels and hot pixels. With ufraw, i think no way too process. Iris ok, but the color quality.... :-(

Dvip, or anybody know the good, free raw converter, etc. to support master dark process, master flat process, hotpixels, badbixels, image alignment, stacking,  good color quality for astrophotography?

My other big problem, the processing in 16 bit tif. Many image processing program say 16 bit supported. But i think this is not real. For example, open the picture, maximum intensity is 255. Or pixel intensity ok, but go to levels /curves adjusment i see only 0-255 adjustable. 16bit = 65535, not 255. Anybody know program to fully supported 16 bit editing?

@mngc,
You may want to try UFRaw http://ufraw.sourceforge.net/
Take a look at the White balance tab (Temperature and Chan. multipliers).
I hope this helps

@mngc,
I try to do as much as I can in the camera. I use DNG
(badpixel.bin) and I don't have many problems with hot/dead
pixels.

You may want to explore the use of dcraw.exe with -P:

-P <file> Fix the dead pixels listed in this file

and

-6 Write 16-bit instead of 8-bit

I have never used -P/-6 but it may be of use to you.

I hope this helps

I'm not sure if this is a bug or what... but when I set the Override ISO value to 65 with value factor of 1, I always get ISO 100 (even in the exif data) and  the picture looks brighter than one taken at ISO 80 which the lowest for the A590IS-101b at the same exposure setting.
AFAIK, most (if not all ?) CHDK cameras don't go below ISO 80. Behavior of extreme overrides will vary depending on model.  Regular exif info is frequently not reliable, makernote frequently is.

Do overrides in the normal range work ?
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Yes, the overrides work for values in the normal range.

I tested it for iso 65 which is listed on this page for the A590IS:

http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CameraFeatures

but as said, when I try iso 65 the picture looks brighter, when it should
look darker. It looks more like iso 100 and it says it is iso 100.

Note that canon has "market" ISO (used in the canon display) and "real" ISO. There's some convoluted cruft to deal with this in the Sv override code, I haven't worked out exactly what it is supposed to do, or whether it does it correctly. However, it does appear to do pretty much the same thing for all cameras.

might also be of interest.

As for the info on the wiki... it's probably wrong, feel free to correct it if you believe you have more accurate information.

Thanks for the information, reyalp. It looks like it won't
work for anything lower than iso 80 which is the lowest
setting for the Canon A590IS. It would have been nice
so I could slow the cam a bit for blury water shots...
since there isn't a built-in ND filter.

@wim/@mngc,
Does your  A590IS focus if you press "set/shutter" during video recording?
I wonder if this is a A590IS-1.01b only problem.

Any way to get the distant to subject on the display?

No, the af key not working. The bitrate and quality control in video mode not working too.

I see very interesting topic, from current 863 trunk, see bellow. @dvip can you contact/manage the problem with oldgit or other expert users?

sx200 updates from oldgit in http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,3994.msg44502.html#msg44502
