New project: camera color profile calculation

Dng4ps2 software v0.2.2 and later contains module for camera color matrix calculation. This module compares RAW and Jpeg file and calculates color matrix.

If there is no color profile for your camera or your camera model is not supported by dng4ps2 yet, just take picture of image (which attached to message) from your PC display, compress RAW and Jpeg file and upload it to zSHARE - Free Image, Video, Audio, Flash and File Hosting or any other servers.

Important! Before taking picture you have:
(with PC)
1. Save my image as file into your disk and open it with full screen mode

(with camera)
2. Select "Program" mode
3. Set best jpeg quality
4. Set white balance to "day light"
5. Switch off all effects
5. Set exposure compensation to -2/3
6. Set focus to infinity
7. Set zoom to middle
8. Set flash to off
9. Set ISO to lowest value
10. And don't take a picture in dark room. Such photos give poor results because of big contrast!

Also I need simple photos taken in RAW (and pair Jpeg too) to test my results.

First results:
To test results, download dng4ps2-0.2.3 and copy values of matrix into 'matrix' option of your camera.  All new color profiles are included in last beta version of dng4ps2: http://dng4ps2.googlecode.com

You can inform me if my results are incorrect. I will try to recalculate it again.

Values of matrices are shown in 'dcraw' order.

Good intentions, but there's a major flaw in the thinking. You are presuming that everyone's monitor is calibrated properly. This is rarely if ever the case.
Gamma value and monitor calibration no matter because the program calculates color matrix by comparing RAW and Jpeg image, it doesn't use only RAW.

Uploaded JPEG/CRW for A620

I assume the program is not yet available for download. Not sure what profiles you have been able to generate already, but I will contribute files from my camera (A620) to help out with your project.

You didn't specify the ISO setting required, so I shot the image at ISO50. I imagine you probably want people to shoot without the flash, so I did that and just had to hold the camera very steady for the 1/4 sec shutter speed.

JPEG and CRW file are being uploaded to: http://www.eliavecellio.com/temp/CanonA620/

Good luck with the project. I look forward to seeing it in action,
Elia

If I need to take it again please say, I'll be happy to make any adjustments you want.

You forgot to set focus to infinity, but I i got first results for 720IS camera

Code: [Select]
1,307006 -0,490421 -0,194771
-0,271197 1,444538 0,037449
-0,119053 0,286961 0,455555
It produces little brighter images then Jpeg but seems colors are correct.

Just tested this matrix for real 720 IS photos. Looks excellent for my taste ;) Anyway I'm waiting corrected images from you

A620 is my camera so I already test program on it :)
My matrix for A620 is
Code: [Select]
1,431362 -0,529117 -0,186946
-0,584117 1,493618 0,119876
-0,169126 0,311496 0,514507

You didn't specify the ISO setting required, so I shot the image at ISO50. I imagine you probably want people to shoot without the flash, so I did that and just had to hold the camera very steady for the 1/4 sec shutter speed.
Thank for remarks. I corrected my first post
