S100 Firmware Dump
« on: 22 / November / 2011, 23:27:02 »
Hello all,

Purchased an S100 about a month ago and have dumped the firmware for it. It can be found here;

http://www.mediafire.com/?ei770qsj911e61d

I hope I have done this correctly, if not, please let me know.

I haven't seen much activity on here regarding this camera, maybe someone will have an opportunity soon to work with the CHDK for it.

Thanks to all who contribute :)

Curt

The code at the start of the dump looks correct.  Its interesting that the dump is 16M - that's double the size of the S95's image.  But I guess memory devices keep getting cheaper.

Assuming you used the Canon BASIC dumper, did you see the load address reported on your LCD ?  Maybe 0xFF000000 ?  If not,  there should be a file called CBDUMPER.LOG on your SD card that has that information.

Its a new camera - typically nothing happens until somebody with development skills and too much time on their hands gets involved.   Standard disclaimer here :  CHDK FAQ : My camera isn't ported yet

I used the common_files.zip contents from the downloads page to obtain the dump along with instructions I found on the forums from philmoz.

I have the CBDUMPER.LOG file also on the card where the firmware is if it is needed. Just let me know & I can upload it also. File is very small, here are the contents:

Started
FF000000 dry
done

Perfect - now all you need is a developer interested in the camera.  Unfortunately, that could take a while.

Well ... it is that time of year again when it gets dark and cold in the Northern hemisphere....perhaps a developer is interested in digging out a beta build for the Canon S100.....certainly a top camera with loads of new fun potential....

I'm afraid that pretty much depends on a developer stepping forward who has some software skills,  access to an S100 and lots of spare time.
