Passive Infrared Detector - motion detector

Hi all
I have a IR-TEC passive infrared detector & want to set it up for motion detection photos.
The model is Ir-Tec Primo IR-530. http://www.irtec.com/ir-530_530c.htm
There is a link to its instructions there too.
I will set it up with 9 volts battery power.
My problem is the alarm when activated is constantly powered while the detector is seeing something.

I need to make it only send a logic signal of about 1 second or less to fire the shutter.
The voltage here is also 9 volts & it needs to be brought down to closer to 6 volts.
I don't know how these are done ? Can someone help me please ?

First of all, remove the jumper from the NC/NO selector to make the relay contacts normally open.
That is equivalent to an unpressed button on a USB switch.

You can switch a voltage to a mini USB 'B' connector via those contacts.

Connect  a resistor of a few kohms to the detector V+ and other end of the resistor to the cathode of a 4v7 zener diode.
The diode anode connects to detector '-'.

The zener cathode is wired to one of the alarm contacts.
The other alarm contact is wired to usb V+ on your mini 'B' connector.
USB V- connects to detector '-'.

I have an idea of what you are saying.
Will this drop the voltage to the detector ? or only the alarm ?

It provides a 4.7V supply to the detector relay contacts (and therefore to the camera USB V+ connection).

Report back on your progress, it will be interesting to see how it works.

It is possible to create a shorter shutter-pulse than the alarm contacts provide .. but that is another story.

The difference with UK is nine hours (Spring to Autumn).

What value is the resistor ?

What voltage is the zener ?

What is the voltage across the detector '+' and '-'  ?

The voltage at the zener cathode /resistor junction is 5volts.
The resistor is 3 kilo ohms.
The voltage of the zener diode is 4.7 volts.
The voltage at the detector is 9 volts.

Just to update, a description of how I have the wires attached to the terminal blocks (from the diagram in the first posting here).

The first four left hand terminals are used only, they are marked +, - & Alarm.

Terminal one has 9 volt battery positive & 3 kilo ohm resistor.
Terminal two has 9 volt battery negative, 4.7 volt zener diode anode & USB ground.
Terminal three has the joined 4.7 volt zener diode cathode & the 3 kilo ohm resistor (on a short lead).
Terminal four has the USB positive.

I have been using a led to test first for polarity & circuit. Cheaper the a camera ;-)
Yes the USB V- is connected to the terminal 2 (ground).
