prevent display from getting black during exposure
« on: 10 / September / 2010, 23:49:28 »
Hello there,

I am using a CHDK pimped IXUS with a selfmade LUA script to make airial pictures from a RC helicopter. In order
to better target the camera I have lately upgraded the heli with a video-downlink system which will show me the
picture of the cameras Video-out on my ground station. Everything works perfectly but yet the pictures gets black
any time I trigger the camera in photo mode.

Is there any way to prevent this and keep displaying the live image - just like it is handled in video mode? This
would be so cool and perfect for FPV (First Person View) flight.

Thank you very much for your help
Best regards

careyer

It's physically impossible to read live view video image from the sensor while the same sensor is being used for photography.

Canon could have chosen to freeze the latest frame instead of going all dark, the latter may save some power making it a better choice. AFAIK, CHDK can't change this either.
