Waiting for S5is CHDK here!

You're right, but consider that most of us (I am) are a little frustrated  seeing others powershot friends having fun with chdk.
We've been waiting for chdk since Scott and jeff appeared on dpreview attempting to dump a720 and s5 firmware (it was october or november...i don't remember).
We all support Dataghost for his work...but there's no need to repeat the same message everytime (check last 10-15 posts).

Did dataghost post somewhere the actual development data(files), so i can go on with the programming ? So I don't start from zero with the firmware hack.

Also what i would like to implement in CHDK is scanline photography.
The idea is to take a single ccd line(h or v), and by moving the cam (constant speed motor based - h or v) getting a perfekt disortion free panorama. I am also thinking forward to realize it without needing a motor and tripod(!), and to implement a motion vector detection algorithm combined with the IS to filter out inconstant and shaky panning speed.
Let's see what ideas i can realize, but first i need my s5is CHDK 

If this function already exist within CHDK please tell me.

Calm down there, buddy. I figured he would want to test it with a small group of people before releasing it for everybody, to make sure that there aren't any major bugs he missed. It also lets him gauge how many people are interested in an S5 version, and hopefully lets him know that his work is worth it and appreciated.

@lukg: Maybe one moderator could close this thread? In my opinion this thread could be set to read-only. New DryOS topics are already published as separate threads and that works fine.

DataGhost could open a new S5-specific thread if he is ready and he is willed to publish something.

But I worry that thread-closing will only create new "What is the status of CHDK for S5"-Threads!?

Maybe everyone could follow lukg's advice and just wait for message from DataGhost?

I think it's best to just let everyone expend their anxiety, frustration, and anticipation in one thread rather than let it flow out into the rest of the forum.

Patience is a virtue, but the squeaky-wheel gets the oil. You decide.

If I was any of you, I'd have traded in my S5 for an S3 over 5 months ago, and be done with it. There's not enough improvements in the S5 to justify all that you lost having for a whole year without CHDK. The S5 was most decidedly a step backward, as will be the S6 no doubt. I just read the latest SD/IXUS camera previews. Absolutely nothing new nor worth having from Canon this year folks. Not even wider angle lenses. A glimpse into what the S6 will be, absolutely nothing new. Time to move along, and trade-up by trading backward.

That message wasn't meant to blame you! It was just to point that this thread is called "Dryos - some success" not "Need tester for S5"...and latest pages are only full of requests (the same request). It's not a lottery! When Dataghost's code will be quite ready and usable, he will be the first to ask for tester, i'm quite sure about that.
I'd like to test as well, but since dataghost is busy, and his work not completed, we should all "calm down" and wait news from  dataghost, instead of pollute the forum asking the same request forever.

I agree with you, this thread should be locked down, since there's no reason to exist anymore.
I wish Dataghost could open a new S5 thread as soon as he has some news about his development.

You're absolutely right. But after 2 pages of "test requests", the forum (and people that reads it) needs to be safeguarded. We could seriously open a new thread titled ""What is the status of CHDK for S5"" if someone really needs it. But please we should let this thread to "some success in porting to Dryos" or discussions about that.

my 2 cents: add a poll to the thread with only one option: i need chdk for s5is.
all the people who need chdk for s5is can vote, this way the devs will see that there is huge interest, all the while not being disturbed by all these "begging" posts in the thread.

IMHO there's no need to do this just because the DEV (the only one), already knows that many are interested in CHDK for S5, but has not too much time to develope. I'm quite sure he is doing all his best (since he's the first one that hopes to succeed).

I say, let the S5 folks duke it out and come up with a solution.
