@jetzt -- Re. 0.8 or .8 -- Layman's convention is to not bother including the preceding 0 before the . (decimal point), in the USA anyway. I'm torn between doing it the scientific way or just the every-day way.
Many programming languages (including C) also accept this notation (without leading zeros) of floating numbers...
