edit: all done, in remaining video time,overrides-cusomizations,no-raw@video,just _random_ stuff Big Grin

Hi, three things:

i always forget that overrides are in effect, so i suggest changing the color of the override info text in osd to the warning color. this way i dont shoot with 65 secs anymore when i want to take a "normal" picture. i already made the code changes, just need your general approvement. maybe an extra option on "enable warning color for overrides"?

2nd thing: right now OSD of chdk is always shown in playback and rec mode (if osd is enabled). i want to add a new toggle "don't show in playback". that should be an easy task, havent done it yet though as it requires changing lots of code.

3rd thing:
when i have multiple overrides in effect, sometimes i want to disable them as fast as possible. there should be a menu entry like "clear all overrides" or "temporarily disengage". maybe with a shortcut?

what do you think, all suggestions are easy to implement and i'm willing to do it.

by the way i dont even know why the OSD colors in playback mode are different from the ones in rec mode. maybe i will find out, maybe it even was on purpose?

1: Although I don't have that problem (if override is enabled, I notice it regardless the colour) I think having the choice is always good. Of course it makes longer menus, but people really have to swim on them only once to set up your preferred configuration.

2: Good idea, I don't see the need of displaying OSD info in playback mode. I hope there is not that much code to change so you can do it quickly.

3: Now that would be really useful. I think CHDK in the near future will have user-defined "shortcut combos" like those sho-riu-ken kicks in super Nintendo’s street fighter if you know what I mean. Combo = combination or sequence of 2, 3, or more buttons.

I'll be waiting for S3 builds to test!

Out of topic:
Sorry Barney, Southpark was banned in my house because of my little brother. And here in Britain I don't watch TV anymore. Did you know you have to pay like £130 = $260 just for the right of watching TV? Back home having a TV set is a human right, just like breathe. Weird country but beautiful.

1. done, easy (color of overrides)
2. not touched yet (osd not showing in playback, will be most of the changes)
3. prepared everything.

as to three:
i want to add a menu entry in the override menu, directly on top that reads "disable ALL overrides". mind you, i don't CLEAR the overrides (that could easily be done by rebooting camera). i will just add checks like "if tv override is enabled and NOT disablealloverrides is checked DO tv override". this way you could actually uncheck the "clear overrides on start" radio button - so you wont lose your specific settings in future (i for example barely use the overrides for things other than aperture & iso, so i could leave them engaged all the time, BUT also have "disable all overrides" checked). i hope my point comes across.
should i write a "warning" in case all overrides are disabled (same place as the actual overrides would be on osd)? i'm a bit unsure about that.
anyways, finding out the places in code where my checks can be added is timeconsuming and especially in need of a big screen & cpu power which i lack both Big Grin will try my best though.
thanks for input, as always you are so kind to me Smiley

next question: should i also disable bracketing in continous mode & autoiso settings? i will leave it to the "normal overrides" for now.

edit: attached testbuild with new option to choose color for overrides (including bracketing & autoiso ones) and disable overrides.

Mmmmmm! posted at Germany's 21:37

It was already April 1st in Siberia, India, Japan etc. May be the prank is intended for them.

Anyways, I'll take my chances. I just hope we don't need an antivirus program for CHDK in the future.

I guess so. Once I was continuous bracketing a landscape and a squirrel jumped a few meters from me. I would love to have this override shortcut back then.

okay, i added the ability to disable autoiso and bracketing in continous mode as well.
there will be a new check box below the "disable overrides" checkbox that reads "include autoiso & bracketing". if this box is checked, ALL overrides will be temporarily disabled.

update/edit: added new checkbox: "Hide in Playback?", meaning the OSD.

items to be hidden via this option: filespace, battery, clock. any other items/icons you can think of? because i can't.

still needs:
- a shortcut (havent found out how to define them yet - any help appreciated!).
- also i dont know if i should write in OSD that the disabling is in effect. hints?

edit: added working binary for s3is.

update: added shortcut to be able to quickly turn on/off overrides.
also: found a way (thanks to Ewavr!) to finally disable (via an option of course) the saving of raw during video rec mode on s3is/s2is/s5is (thus, preventing the stopping of video).
have to clean some things and also have to touch a lot of libraries, will post source/diff & binaries soon. stay tuned.

ps.: feature of calculating remaining time in video rec mode will also be finished soon, though you probably wont read about it in this thread, as there already is another one Big Grin
