well my sd1000 broke, i dropped it. took it into best buy to get warrantied and after a week they called and said it was broken beyond repair so they told me to go grab a camera off the floor of equal value, seeing as how the sd1000 is now discontinued. i just grabbed the A590 IS, because it was of equal price and looks to have some neat features compared to before.

its neat having 8mp, better zoom, adjustable aperture and shutter speed, manual focus and image stabilization. but i hate that it uses normal AA batteries and the screen quality isn't so good compared to what my sd1000 was like.

the worst part is, there is no chdk build for the A590 IS, and there never will be from what i read. With no chdk, i can't shoot in raw, which means im done for!!

is there any hope?

Use 2700 mAh NiMh batterys, they dont cost too much but hold really long.

yay!! thank you to whoever dumped it! i feel better knowing atleast some steps have been taken so far! with chdk, this is going to be an awesome camera. i really am looking forward to the manual focus and adjustable aperture and shutter speed. just wish i could shoot in raw
