Experience/Advice on using Adaptor Tube and Lenses/Filters

Dont buy cheap lenses.search for a thread here,i had similar questions.i now own canon wideangle and tele (luckily i got them cheap on ebay),macro lenses i got from raynox,top quality.will post pics and specs maybe later.

Is there any benifit/issues between using a 52mm tube or a 37mm tube?  Do you see the lens edges more with a 37mm or is there sufficient clearence?

I happened to have the two Nikon lenses (which I used with an old Nikon 4300), so I looked for the simplest way of attaching them. The 52mm end of the tube attaches to the A570. The step ring attaches to the other end (37mm). The two nikon lenses have 28mm threads which fit the step ring.

The clearance is OK - see this set for some sample photos using the fish-eye and wide-angle.

I have the 52mm adaptor in the mail - and what I think will be neat is shooting with a polarizer. I usually shoot with a 40d, but sometimes it's just more than I want to handle - I already have some 52mm filters for my EF 50mm II f/1.8 so it isn't really an added expense to try them out on my A720IS. I really like the look a polarizer can give.

Consider getting a simple ring to mount any standard 50mm SLR lens in reverse on the filter attachment. This will allow you to take super macros at a comfortable distance of about 50mm from the face of the glass. This will also allow you to to light the subject with built in flash. Using SLR standard lens also eliminates most of the chromatic abrasions.

Raynox lenses are also great, though I don't own one. I have a matched 1:1 adapter lens for 105mm Vivitar macro lens (1:2 magnification without adapter lens) which I also use. The quality is great. This I use as my substitute for Raynox.

Yeah, I noticed your other pictures, very neat. I don't shoot much macro, although for what it's worth I am getting more and more interested in wide angle photography... saving up for 5d successor and a 15mm fisheye, and maybe a wide rectilinear... The A720IS is pretty much just for playing around.

If I do get interested in macro photography, I'll get a reverser and experiment. Sure would look odd with a prime hanging off backwards from this little point and shoot. Thanks
