@Caefix mentioned here https://chdk.setepontos.com/d/14294/11 that ixus265_elph340 shows incorrect PTP live view when video recording is in progress.

Attached is a test build that will show some debug information when "misc values" are enabled in the debug menu.

A screenshot is probably the simplest way to report, but the values are:
srsa_4c debug display. The value we want is the number of frame buffers while video is recording.
MS: movie_status variable
VH: vid_get_viewport_height

It would be helpful know what video resolutions the problem happens with (HD or VGA)

Thanks. Here's another test build.

Please post a screenshot with HD video recording, and not recording.

HD video might be fixed, but other things might be broken. Please check the different aspect ratios for still images (3:2, 16:9, 1:1)

From the manual, this camera has FHD (1080P) and HD (720P). I'd expect the viewport to be the same, but if it's really FHD only, let me know.

I'm not clear what your screenshots are showing.
The right image on chdkptp_20210409_173242HD.png looks quite incorrect. The image is shifted down, and looks like it's cut off.

The right image on chdkptp_20210409_173731FHD.png looks like the original problem.

If the display is wrong only for a short time while recording is starting / stopping (I guess that text on the 3rd image means you just stopped recording and it's processing), it's OK. If it's something else, please explain what was happening when those screenshots were taken.

We can try to fix ixus275 after this one.

😐: Indeed. Yesterday FHD was flattened, today HD is stretched & shifted.
The left pics I´ve been pointing at the same place, the right shows the elongation...

So "Looks good now" refers to what? FHD only?

If it's true FHD and HD are different, please give me the result of

 =return get_prop(require'propcase'.VIDEO_RESOLUTION)

with each setting. Video doesn't need to be recording.

If you need to include more than two screenshots, please just put them in a zip file, and in your post, explain exactly which settings were used in each screenshot. Like

Before we can move on to other cameras, I need to understand what's happening with this one.

In the last test
1) Do HD and FHD look the same, or different in live view?
2) Does FHD look 100% correct?
3) The problems you see happen while recording, not just stopping / starting record?

The untouched cams have a nice HD & flat FHD.
The modified has oversized HD vs. 100% FDH.

Funny this camera uses a lower resolution live view when recording HD. I guess maybe it saves CPU/bus/memory bandwidth for video recording...

Here PS61 holds the language, 66305 is German, 65537 English, 68865 is Pyccnik,

I recently came across CHDK, I wish I had a long time ago! I have the IXUS 265 HS with 100b firmware. I see the 100b firmware dump already exists, I'm a willing tester if anyone, after all this time, is willing to pick this up.

Welcome aboard. Unfortunately a 100b dump alone doesn't get you running: builds are made for one firmware version, and what exists for this camera so far is a port for 100a (dumped and built starting from https://chdk.setepontos.com/d/11689) and a 100c test build posted earlier in this thread. Neither will load on a 100b camera — CHDK simply won't start on the wrong version.

If you want to help get 100b supported, the useful step is dumping your firmware: the Canon Basic card setup and dumper script are described on the wiki at https://chdk.fandom.com/wiki/Canon_Basic/Card_Setup. Then host the PRIMARY.BIN somewhere (don't attach it to a post) and post the link in the firmware dumping section, as rkomar did for 100a.

Given that the 100a and 100c ports exist, porting 100b should be straightforward for a developer once the dump is available, and reports from a willing tester like you are exactly what moves a port toward the autobuild.

If the 100b dump really is linked there, you can skip the dumping step — but I can't check what that wiki page currently contains, so verify the link actually points to a downloadable PRIMARY.BIN for 100b rather than just a mention of the version.

That still leaves the real gap: a dump doesn't give you anything to load. What exists for this camera is a 100a port and the 100c test builds posted earlier in this thread, and a build only runs on its own firmware version. What's needed is a developer to build 100b from the dump — with 100a and 100c already working, the version differences should be small, so it's a realistic ask.

The practical move is to post in this porting thread (or the ELPH 340 HS 100a dump thread, https://chdk.setepontos.com/d/11689) confirming the 100b dump location and that you're available to test, and be ready to report results following https://chdk.fandom.com/wiki/Testing. Untested ports stay untested if nobody runs them — a committed tester is often what gets a build made.

lewjjhjh You are correct. Based on comparing stubs, it appears the 100b firmware should be compatible with the 100c build. I'm not sure if the builds posted earlier had the firmware version check enabled, so here's a new build that should run on both 100b and 100c.
