@reyalp in case it helps, just tried my dc1 and dc2 evfs and both exhibit the same evf behaviour.

With the card unlocked, ie no CHDK running, both evfs show a normally functioning evf.

With the card locked, ie CHDK engaged, both evfs show identical corruption of the evf.

pigeonhill Thanks. I'll dig into the code a bit more to come up with a test build when I have some time. There's enough differences in the various digic6 display implementations that it's not as straightforward as just copying everything from M3.
If you can get a picture of the EVF display, that might be somewhat helpful, but don't bother if it's not easy.

@reyalp As I dumbly think about things I wonder if developers can’t (sic) fix the corrupted evf on the G1X2, if there is a way to reduce the impact of the corruption.

I’ve looked at switching CHDK stuff off, eg OSD and histogram, but the corruption remains the same.

So my naïve thought is, would an evf ‘kill switch’ work. That is a user setting that tells CHDK to completely ignore the evf. Thus the LCD still has CHDK functionality, but the evf doesn’t know anything about CHDK.

What do you think?

For me, the G1X2 is a CHDK flagship camera, and it would be great if it could be ‘perfect’ ;-)

pigeonhill I'm sure it can be fixed, probably without too much effort. AFAIK both M3 and G5 X correctly support EVF (if you have either and can confirm, that would be helpful). If I had the camera in front of me, it would be trivial to debug, but without that I need to spend a bit more time to understand the code.

reyalp I can confirm the M3, with an externally attached evf, and G5X, with a built-in evf, both work ok with CHDK engaged.

I slso attach a poor quality view of the G1X corruption.
