Save RAW files in DNG format instead of RAW

Is it normal that DNG doesn't work with S2is camera ?

In firmware CHDK-s2is-100g-0.8.1 i have dng option but it isn't possible to activate it and i have RAW buffer cached option
In firmware s2is-100g-0.8.2-591-full i have dng option and i can activate it but i doesn't work and the RAW buffer cached isn't there.

Don't forget to store the badpixel.bin file in the CHDK folder.

YES with a badpixel.bin ( post 42 ) the firmware CHDK-s2is-100g-0.8.1 work with the DNG option but not the 0.8.2

whim & laetilodie, please try #592 from the autobuild and tell me if it works. 😀

i tried, but it won't let me ? "Can't load badpixel.bin BLAH"
Even though i have bad pixel removal off.
Note: never have used bad pixel option, total noob on this.
591 never complained about this, on the other hand i now do have the Raw Cached option.

(all this on A620)

uhm, you also have dng enabled, dont you? for dng you need the badpixel thing.
i just fixed a bug in the menu, not in the dng thingy itself.

It 's work for me and my S2is.

The DNG bug with ver : 591 is gone.

S3is problems.
I've been trying to make the DNG format work starting with Ewavr' posting. and yes I'm trying with badpixel.bin sparse, full and many versions.
Ewavr versions (7.4->) under Raw menu would not set DNG format no reaction to button press.
AutoBuild ver(8.1 and 8.2) DNG button press works but no DNG format conversion produced.
(the cache option has been replaced by the curtain)
Where should the badpixel.bins be filed?
In every folder, or a set (low,med,high) in a special folder?

@Aged: how do you know dng doesnt work? as of now, the produced files do not have the dng ending, but crw instead. try the latest autobuild (#592 at least), the menu was not correct before this revision

@whim: there is an empty badpixel.bin in this thread somewhere, dunno if it can be just an empty file called this way. however using ewavrs tool you can easily create a valid badpixel.bin file yourself 😀

And I have to add that there is a big difference between the DNGs created with real badpixel. If you use the empty badpixel, you will get a lot of dots in the image.

I removed empty badpixel.bin from my old post. Use real badpixel list instead it to avoid image artifacts lie color dots.

One Badpixel.bin file(1780) is in the 'photo' folder
The curtain item has been removed
RawTherapee accepts Photoshop rejects the Raw files

how do I get DNG on my G7?

I would be willing to do some testing and stuff since I bought my G7 for that reason (and am in the process of "pimping" it after CHDK with some real-life-stuff from lensmate). =)

download latest build here: CHDK Download - build 0.8.2, revision #592
and put a badpixel.bin in the /chdk folder
if your as lazy as i am 😁 create a badpixel.bin consisting of 4 binary zeroes, otherwise
search for badpixel on the Wiki

I've not downloaded the new DNG versions yet, but I read some of the posts about confusion with the filename. Doesn't CHDK have the CRW and CR2 suffixes available? Why can't CR2 be use for DNG, or can that even be renamed to DNG in the filename? Just an idea if nobody's considered it. CR2 would be pretty obvious as a flag that it needs to be renamed.

the problem is the transfer to the pc via usb. as far as i understood ewavr, he is already working on that part, by replacing a normally unused extension with dng.

are you sure? it only is shown for a short time in the lower left corner of the screen.
