The sensor might not be able for ISO 3200. What would be fantastic is the ability to;
shoot in L+RAW for the "Quick Menu"

I doubt it, the buffer seems to be small enough (I got my hands on a broken 1000D and opened it up, for the laugh)

From my poking around, I'm fairly sure it's only a 16MB buffer which is inline with the 3/second JPEG and 1.5/second RAW.

I've seen some progress in DSLR development for the EOS 300d (ISO 3200) and the 400d (ISO 3200, Spot Metering etc.) and am wondering whether ist would be possible to port that stuff to the EOS 1000d as it runs basically the same OS?
Has anyone started working on this so far?
I would highly appreciate the possibility to use Spot Metering and ISO 3200 on the 1000d.

sorry atm i dont have time to work on this anymore :/ (have to finish my studies). but its not a big deal to port the 400d hack to the 1000D. all that needs to be done is to find the functions offset inside the 1000D firmware. you can use a dumped 400D firmware for that and ida pro to search for the functions. then you need to enable the boot from sd card flag which should be the same as for the 400D (but better check my firmware dump to get sure) .. and thats all. maybe i will find some time in the next months to finish the port.

Well, all we can do now is get some attention, there are many skilled programmers, and i don't belive that no one wants to deal with 1000D. It would be great for 1000d users, and even better for the person that makes the mod, making him somehow famous. ATTENTION is all we need, so any ideas ?

Anyway, there are a lot of skilled programmers, but I don't know how many of them actually own a 1000D. That's the major issue, I think.
Bingo. You don't just need a programmer, you need one who has the camera, knowledge, interest and time.

Ppl, I have time on my hands and a 450d. What is needed that I can do to get a chdk for the 450d/XSI? I'm by no means a programmer but have some Linux programming skills.
