Maybe for someone of future DRYOS developers can be useful CHDK signatures (for DRYOS only, A720 based).
For A650 we have good coincidence, for A720 - 100% 😉

No, this signatures can be used for CHDK compiling, Grand's signatures - for IDA.

Thanks to everyone who worked on this and made it a great success. Being able to program my camera now is incredible. I'm glad that there are people out there who saw that cameras could do so much more, and made it possible. These people took a consumer device and enabled it to truly be a tool for creative people.

I'd like a copy too then. I think one of the translation programs I have that has many languages on it has English to Russian and vice versa as well.

Hi. I have been checking this thread but I don't know enough to make sense of it really. I see various advances and breakthroughs but don't have any sense of whether the S5 will be cracked, or if that is a long in the future process, or what. Any clues would be great, trying to decide whether to trade my S3 in for an S5, but not if I can't have chdk.

Stay with your S3, not many people are interested/skilled in porting chdk to S5. Maybe one day, i hope.

Maybe Canon will incorporate almost all the features of CHDK into the S6 so they can keep up with the competition. 😀

Every camera manufacturer is no longer competing with each other, now they have to compete with what CHDK can do.

CHDK is a HUGE paradigm shift in the photography world. For the first time in the history of cameras, the photographers and end users are deciding what is best to have on their cameras, instead of having some manufacturer dictate what we might like. This is photography for photographers, by photographers, with photographer designed features. This has never happened before in all of history. (Well, as long as you don't count those very first photographers that had to build their own very first cameras. 😀 )

If Canon were to truly embrace this, I'd rather they just release detailed specs and an SDK for their cameras than try to integrate the features themselves...

I thought scott was working on it but i have seen him post for awhile.

Sorry, I decided to put this on the back burner because dataghost seemed to have more energy to put into it. I kept reinventing the same wheels jeff and dataghost were building.. and keeping everything in sync with their work was tedious. With several people developing modifications against the same core (the svn trunk) and having them work behind closed doors, I just felt it was better to wait things out to let things settle.

I'm not sure where dataghost's work is at, and I sorta wish it was available as a branch on svn, but I digress.. I have no problem with porting his work over.. but it seems a bit silly to port over volatile work.

Sure, would be nice. So the people who are more creative than they are could come up with something better again. But c'mon, you and I know that's not how the greedy business world works. 😀 They steal ideas, implement them, charge a fortune for them, and then try to make sure nobody else can change anything or use those ideas again. i.e. Reality.

But this is going OT.

Great post. I would add to "instead of having some manufacturer dictate what we might like" ... "and instead of camera makers doling out advances to us one or two at a time and hording the rest to justify buying a new camera every few months, when much more is possible. If they would just provide the specs, they'd be out of business as they know it. Not that a different business model wouldn't be better.

so does the current build of AllBest's for the A720 have the ability to change the compression for movies? and also allow for optical zoom?

Hello everybody, I'm another of the "not many" interested in porting the chdk to S5....
Can you confirm that actually there is no way of using CHDK in this machine?
