Thanks for all of your replies. I did a lot of research last night after I posted, which I realized I should have done before, and then started checking into what you all have suggested. It's an understatement to say that there is a lot to digest, especially for a newbie, but I hope I can start hacking away at it soon. I thank everyone who is already working on this project as I know how time consuming it can be. Keep up the great work!

Thanks ewavr for your work, I own a SX10 1.01B, so I was like, ugh, sooo close when I saw ver. A is being ported, haha. It's great to see headway on the Digic IV cameras.

SX10 1.01A updated: added wheel support, multipartition support, RAW sum/average for 12-bit RAW (to do: curves and RAW subtract for 12-bit RAW).
Forget about video bitrate change (no MJPEG inside?).

I noticed that there's no "DNG visable under USB" function in the Miscellaneous properties like there is on CHDK for the A550, is that something that's going to be added later on, or dropped from the SX10-IS build?

Hi All,

Do you think HD video recording can be enabled on the SX10? I think the difference between SX1 and SX10 is only the sensor and the SX200 can record 720p video with a CCD sensor very similar to the one in SX10.

Also, can faster continuous shooting rates be enabled by CHDK? As the camera can do about 3.6fps in ISO3200 mode (2MP) it seems that the 1.4fps limit in all other modes (including regular 2MP and even 0.3MP) is a limitation imposed by the firmware.

Wheel support & multipartition setup (8GB, 2MB+ restMB) with swapping via menu works fine, also the 3rd ALT-shortcut (video button) 😀

But it seems to be 10 bit, still better than the 8 bit JPEGs.

Also successfully tested:
- Power on in record mode (hold power btn)
- MD (fudgey's MDFB-080914), ~85ms most time, rarely ~100 ms reaction time
- Tv bracketing (- mode, + mode, +/- mode)
- Subj. Dist. bracketing
- LED's (all working)
- User menu (uses the AF frame selector / Delete button for selection)

Updated again - RAW subtraction is patched for 12-bit support, some minor fixes.
Curves are removed from this build, because I have no idea how to patch it for 12-bit support.

Many thanks for testing. Since I'm newbee as CHDK user, I can't test all its features 😉

that does not work:
- Auto NR with shutter speed override;
- shutter speed override (and maybe other overrides), if shutter button is pressed quickly.
So far, I have no idea how to fix it.

i'm reading ALOT of reviews about the sx10 lately, and all of these reviews come to the same conclusion: remarkably good camera.
if i hadnt invested in my slr system, i think i would already own a sx10 by now. what is a good camera + chdk? a VERY good camera.

Curious, can confirm this; manually set (on / off) NR works always

Also successfully tested:
- Override aperture
- AV Bracketing
- Edge overlay (also save & load overlay, freeing memory)
- misc OSD & menu things (fonts, language files, codepage, disable overrides...)
- zooming with open shutter (zoomshot script) (very fast, full 20x zoom is 1.75 seconds)
- menu item disable LCD off (power management)
- propcase viewer (Debug menu), paging with DELETE key (click & double click)
--> normally this should be the [+/-] key, maybe DELETE and [+/-] keys are interchanged ? (also when editing user menu)
- The complete card preparation workflow on big cards (test card was 8GB):
+ "Create card with 2 partitions"
+ "Make card bootable"
+ "Swap partitions"
+ starting with manual method & autoboot
- battery OSD: new min/max values looks good, atm i'm using standard NiMH and 1.25V NiMH (Hähnel Synergy, Eneloop-like with higher voltage)...
