I'm not able to test the motion detection on any other camera, but I found pictures in the german chdk forum that show pictures created with the md_fast script on a
SX10:

Such pictures are certainly not possible with your current chdk port for the
SX20, because it does only recognize very big changes (like turning the light on or off). That's why I call tje current motion detection unusable - such big changes are simply not there when I want to do motion detection.
I think regarding motion detection it would be interesting to see how it performs on the SX200. It probably has the same 12MP sensor which is an important part in motion detection because of the noise that it produces (which gets recognized as motion if the threshold is too low) and other specialities. But I couldn't find any infos about motion detetion on the SX200, maybe you'll find something.
I'm looking forward to new versions of your chdk port, which will most likely improve when you get the
SX10 for comparison.
