I am novice with digital camera/photography.

I bought a SX20is recently. Using both ACID and CameraVersion11, I obtained FW version for my camera and that is 102D. Can use your FW dump sx20-102b-0.9.9-885-full with my camera? I want to save my photographs in RAW format for future post processing. Thanks for getting rid of the Games from your FW dump. I want also my camera to be faster that what its now and I guess more free RAM will definitely do the same.

Your suggestion will be appreciated.

I think there's a bug with the newest fw build on 1.02B.. When I have the main LCD reversed (facing the same direction as the lens so I can see both), the screen is solid white and does not change unless I swivel the LCD backwards or dock it so it's like a standard camera. This also affects the viewfinder if the screen is left out that way - turns solid white, and you can't see anything you're doing, though the camera still functions normally minus the LCD view. Also, this happens in ANY mode.

I just tested mine and was able to take photos and movies as expected. Recommend you test again after starting your camera to see if it happens again. If it happens again, you might want to try adjusting one or more of the settings you changed recently. It might be a conflict of the settings or just something 'quirky' that happened. Good luck!

I vote something quirky. Somehow, in the Misc settings in CHDK, Flashlight mode got turned on?? I don't remember messing around in the Misc menu at all ... But it's fixed, so false alarm. Sorry!

Thanks alot for your precise answers about "Do I need a PS.FI2 file". Very clear. Now I understand why. Especially the part about one of the RAW bugs:

" You can import movies and JPGs and copy with Windows in a cardreader when using two partitions. After autoboot, the larger partition becomes the active partition, so USB transfers work fine normally (same as single partition). I say normally because there appears to be a 'bug' when enabling the 'place raw in same file with JPGs'. When this option is selected the contents of the folders created are not visible through USB or Windows when using two partitions (I haven't checked this on a single partition yet). If this option is enabled you cannot import via USB or view with Windows when using two partitions. Only the SDM Installer will work in this case.
Photo formats other than JPGs and movies are not recognized by USB yet (per forum comments), so they can only be done via the SDM Installer."

For the time being I have switched off the raw mode (and yes: with a two partitioned card I can now use USB for transferring images). The Superfine and battery status option are more important to me (still have to see if there is a significant difference with the standard fine setting).

However, I just installed the may 16th build of Acid2000. Testing is continued (including video mode) ....

I got reasonable results so far testing some of the scripts. I'm including a ZIP file that contains the scripts (in separate folders) that I have successfully tested so far. While I may not have tested all aspects, the basic script design functions as advertized. Here is a link to the ZIP file:

Basically in each folder is a modified copy of the web page info, a copy of the script I used as TXT and BAS files. (Note: The BAS file is just a copy of the TXT file renamed as BAS.) The modification in the info PDF is usually just important high-lited info. Any changes I may have made to the script will be indicated in "My Notes: at the end of the document. To use the scripts yourself, just copy the individual BAS file to your CHDK/Scripts folder and select from CHDK on the camera.

Here is a list of the scripts:

02 Multipurpose Motion Detection
03 Ultra Intervalometer
04 HDR time lapse

Tip: If you plan on using any script that will require your camera to stay on for extended periods of time (time lapse, etc.) you should consider disabling unneeded power drains such as the LCD, etc. Also recommend using an external power source to power the camera rather than just the camera batteries.

When will the original (first ported) 1.00 version CHDK be available in a final working version instead of beta? is anyone still working on it? or is it already available somewhere?

Because, presently, the later 1.02 different versions are being ported, but there is no news of the initial 1.00 version...

Pretty please! I have no programming skills, and I wouldn't be able to do much, but I'd be willing to help out in any way I can in order to get this one going.
I've been following this project for the last couple months and have been getting very excited about the prospect of finally being able to use this.

Big thanks to all of you for doing this work.

The "Firm Update" function is apparenty missing in SX20, so that means that I have no other way to start CHDK other than making a bootable partition on a SD card?
I would very much like to evade partitioning of the card and that whole deal with swapping partitions (I have a 16GB SDHC card), at least while I'm testing and learning how to work with CHDK.

Correct, the "Firm Update" function isn't available yet. I recommend just getting a 4G SDHC card (about $15 from Walmart) and set it up to use as your test card. That way you can switch out cards if you have an important event you want to photograph, but you still aren't fully comfortable with CHDK yet. Here's a simple checklist to get you started:

1 - Get a 4G SDHC card for testing
2 - Download the latest beta release by @ACID2000 at: https://chdk.setepontos.com/d/4348/597

There is a little "learning curve" when you first get started, but it's well worth it once you start processing your first DNG photos. I use Photoshop CS3 and ACDSee v3.
