I did have to format the card twice, make bootable twice, then load zip. I used cardtricks. It appears the first time around not all the files in the zip were copied to the sd card. All seems to be working otherwise.

That doesn't seem like a CHDK problem ?

1st boot you MUST press the play button to power on the camera. subsequent power ups do not require play button to load CHDK.

That doesn't make sense either .. unless there is some reason why the CCHDK.DAT file needs to be there for some reason when booting other than with the play button ?

No worries. I am relatively new to CHDK testing, although I have been using it on my SD900 for a number of years. I got my firmware version using the vers.req and FUNC SET + DISP combo. Yes, that is exactly what I mean by firmware display. There are three lines of text starting with 'CHDK Firmware'. There is no graphic logo. The camera loads in review mode. It turns off when I attempt to switch to shoot mode. With that being said, the <ALT> symbol displays when I press the print button, not DISP. I get the CHDK menus when I press MENU, and I get the Script menu when I press FUNC SET. Hope this helps.

@nerdbrain : sounds like your SD card is does not have all the files or there is an issue reading it. The logo that you don't see is stored on the SD card for example.

Well its working - I am guessing the first time around Card Tricks did not extract the entire zip file. CHDK loads perfectly. Now I need to start learning some scripting to get the motion detection scripts working. One of them starts and is working but after the first shot it just starts taking photos 1 after another vs restarting and waiting for motion.

I can also confirm that the newest version is booting up okay. The back LED blinks maybe 5 times (green) and the front blink on once. I'm able to adjust various parameters and settings, tested the Reversi game. I have not yet tested any scripts. As I'm new to CHDK, I want to make sure I understand the difference between a script error and a porting error.

Hi, I've tested the S95 firmware 1.00k test4. I've been able to autoboot it with a 16gb card using the SDM Installer.
I've found some issues with that:

1. Battery level not very accurate (percent indicator). The camera will display low battery when 50% is reached in the chdk battery metter.

2. Video time limit is 4gb, the video will stop after reaching that file size limit. Couldn't be a workaround for that splitting files???

3. Some display issues when the canon menu is refreshing.

4. scripts but the default one doesnt work

5. SDHC Card write lock not locked uses the first partition (2mb), so it's useless have it not locked.

6. OSD isn't shown in playback mode

7. CHDK starts in playback mode only.

I'll post whatever I found. Thank you for your support people, and specially waterwingz.

Normal - the defaults are pretty broad. You can set the high and low limits in the Battery Menu (reached from the OSD Menu). Please report what values work well for you and I will look at changing the defaults (although this will affect all firmware versions if I do so).

Out of scope for this porting project I'm afraid.

Normal in shooting mode and a limitation of CHDK. Lots of posts about the around the forum if you want to do some searching.

CHDK limitation - but I think you can swap which partition is used (i.e. primary) using sdminste.exe

You can set this up in the OSD menus.

Hold the power switch down for 2 seconds rather than just a quick press ?

CHDK limitation - but I think you can swap which partition is used (i.e. primary) using sdminste.exe

Canon limitation. 😉

You should be able to swap partitions using CHDK. Assuming "firm update" loading works, you can put the FI2 on both partitions, allowing you to manually load and swap any time.

With the price of cards these days, it might make more sense just to buy one to use with CHDK and one to use without.

That will have to wait for 1.00k to be hosted in the autobuild server as I have been warned not to distribute ps.fi2 file. At this point, I suspect the K release is at least as good as the I release so if I don't hear anything bad in the next couple of days I'll submit a patch file.

I can hear autofocus work, and picture not being takes very fast even with motion detection.bas options set to no autofocus.
Also, this is with camera in manual mode, with manually set focus.

Please verify and tell me if I am wrong.
- it's freshly downloaded CHDK for 1.00F , and the http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/UBASIC/Scripts:_Multipurpose_Motion_Detection
("Shot" is set to "0")

I've noticed after partitioning with sdminste.exe and putting CDHK on the smaller 2mb partition that the logo no longer appears on startup. I still get version information, but the logo with the standard dial is no longer shower (whether started in playback or shooting mode).

The logo is loaded from the SD card from a file. When you put CHDK on the smaller 2Mb partition, is it possible that you only put the DISKBOOT.BIN file there rather than the full distribution ?

I noticed something about burst shooting.

The burst shooting is much slower when CHDK is loaded in the S95 (firmware update or autoboot)!!!
Even when shooting ormally without any scripts.

Could something be done???

because I made a intervalometer which burst shoot, and I cannot understand why burst is so slow.

Yes,
I didn't noticed the raw was activated, and I don't know when it was activated.
I Deactivated the Raw mode in my scripts to avoid this kind of issue.

Firmware 1.00k merged into the main trunk today. Should be available from the autobuild server in the next 24 hours.

Hi, I've found the propper battery voltage values:

Max = 4065 mV
Min = 3235 mV

I think they are much accurate than the default values.
