Thanks. So if i dump a copy of the A470 firmware, CHDK can be ported to A470? What is the easiest way to dump the firmware?

Looks like step one is needed... Dump the firmware...

Problems dumping the SD1100IS/IXUS80IS

Then post the firmware and post so others can see it...

Firmware Dumping

Then "someone" will have to volunteer to port it.

PS: Note, some of the newer Canon cameras have changed how code is loaded and ran--so dumping may not be possible without some extra work (and luck).

Will be trying the universal dumper but I have to buy a card reader first ;)

Any luck?

Haha, I got the card reader. :)

I had followed this step by step guide.
Dump Ixus 960is

Nope... Unable to dump A470 firmware with Udumper. Perhaps, the diskboot.bin can't even be loaded.

I too have the A470 and attempted to use udumper, the camera seems to completely ignore the diskboot.bin file...

I figured it was worth checking to see if diskboot.bin was loaded at all, so tried a few others (camera worked as normal) and then tried a corrupt one - the camera wouldn't even turn on then. So I believe it's definitely loading the diskboot.bin files and the blinker method is needed?

Im going to dive into all this properly tomorrow, get a dev env set up and try to figure out LED addresses etc...any help is welcome =]

EDIT: I just read the thread above about the SD1100IS/IXUS80IS, chr's encoded blinker program gets my A470's LCD blinking =]
