I  just bought my first Canon and I was wishing to work the CHDK with this, but unfortunately I dissapointed.. :'(
Do you know any compatibility between the excisting releases and the Ixus 85is (sd770) ?
If not,do I have any hopes to make somebody a release for this model??
My firmware version is GM 1.00a .

Thanks in advance!

I think you should follow what's happening with the IXUS 80IS/SD1100.

Once that one is figured out and done, it probably shouldn't be too much extra to get something for the IXUS 85 as I think the two are quite similar (aside from one being 8megapixel and the other 10, and a few other things).

Have a look at the following thread: Problems dumping the SD1100IS/IXUS80IS

The first post kinda explains the whole situation with the newer models running DryOS. However, towards the end you'll notice that one individual (chr) has made some progress.

I too would love to see the CHDK ported to the Ixus 85 IS (SD770).

I have yet to buy a Canon IXUS camera, but I have been in the market for a new camera for over a year and after missing the boat with the Ixus 75 I wanted last summer, I have decided that the Ixus 85 IS fits my needs best this summer and I can actually afford it.

I have chosen to go for a Canon camera based on finding this wonderful looking CHDK mod for the camera.  I am a would-be computer programmer and I like the idea of being able to access many more of the features of the camera that would normally not be there and also write scripts for the camera.

If there is any news on the port of CHDK to the Ixus 85/SD770 that would be great to here,
thanks in advance and keep up the great work!

ixus85_sd770 owners:

there's a firmware dump for firmware 100a here:

[DOWNLOAD LINKS] Firmware dumps available

it seems that chr's udumper2008 can be used on this cam, so if you've got a different version, try dumping
yours. Porting CHDK needs to be done by someone who has access to the cam though, so 1 or more of you
needs to take the initiative ...

edit: for information about 'new DryOs' porting, check chr's thread on porting the ixus80 here: SD1100/ixus 80 porting ....
and brake's thread on porting ixus90 here: ixus90/sd790 IS porting

a very good starting guide for porting CHDK to a new cam can be found here: DryOS - some success

Well I've ordered my Ixus 85IS (SD 770) now.  After reading all I could find online, countless reviews, I decided that even without the CHDK this was still one of the best and smallest digital cameras out there, as my main criteria was for it to be pocket sized.

I've gotta say it was a close call, as there were a few similar models, including the Nikon Coolpix s600, Olympus Mju 1020, but despite it's apparent downfalls with noise above ISO400, it comes out better in all other areas - and it sure beats my old fixed focus Fujifilm A605.

Now if someone could crack the DryOS on this model and get the CHDK working on it that would be great.

It seems like someone has already managed to extract the firmware from this model, which seems to be a crucial step, but if you need any help or testing with this specific model let me know.

I know I won't be able to adapt the CHDK myself as I'm not that experienced with programming, but if anyone wants to test a CHDK build on the Ixus 85IS(SD770) just let me know and I'd be willing to help out.

Cheers,
ROGUE

I just wanted to pop in and add myself to the list of those interested in using CHDK on my new IXUS 85 IS. For now, I'm content with it as-is, and I still have to read through the wiki before I'm confident enough to try anything.

Can't wait :)

If there is anything I can do to speed up the release of CHDK for the SD770 (IXUS 85IS) then please let me know!
I have had my IXUS 85IS for a few months now, and I love it!  Seems to be the best features smallest digital compact I could have afforded, but I know with CHDK around, it could do more!

I'd love it if those of you out there could get this camera included.  I know the work is difficult, hence why I'd have no clue what to do.  But I really don't mind testing any preliminary builds you may get for the SD770.  Anything to speed up development.

I would also like to add my support.  I really want auto bracketing and raw images.
