Lua is a scripting language. See LUA - CHDK Wiki.

It's time to celebrate my 100 post:

serious chdk bug

So here we go:

 * iso override fixed (ISO 16 - 8000 seems to work)
 * MF fixed
 * set_zoom fixed
 * viewport_fb() fixed for play mode: histogramm and zebra now works
 * latest lua support: preliminary lua iolib and oslib port
 * This build seems to be very stable. No crashes or freeze so far. Almost.

This is not done yet:

 * move rec. stuff
 * large SD support

Big fat warning:

I found a general chdk bug which may damage the cam. See my 100.

 * Do not use manual focus in PLAY mode *)
 * Do not run any scripts engaging the cam mechanic (focus, zoom, ND filter) in PLAY mode

The manuals are here: CHDK firmware usage/AllBest - CHDK WikiGerman/HandbuchJuciphox - CHDK Wiki
The .tgz file contains binaries for 100c and 101a fw and some script examples etc.
The .bz2 file is a patch against svn/trunk rev.520

Please report if it works on 101a.

Please test shutter override ... canon osd shows up to 1/1500 but it seems to go faster. Who can measure that?

*) don't activate it accidentally: alt, up, zoom in/out

first time CHDK user here.  Where do I find the PS.fir file to go with these bin files?

PS.fir file is not needed. The SD1100 IS runs on DryOS, and the firmware upgrade method of launching CHDK doesn't work. You need to put it on a SD card that has been made bootable. Check the wiki for help with that.

I copied the bin file matching my firmware to a card formated to FAT16 with the boot flag enabled and renamed the file to Diskboot.bin, however when I turn on my camera in view mode and press "MENU" the "upgrade firmware" option does not appear.

You don't need to use a 'upgrade firmware' option. Just make sure the SD card is locked, and CHDK will run upon turning on your camera.

I must be missing something then.  I have the card flagged as boot, the firmware copied and renamed "Diskboot.bin" and the card locked.  When I turn on the camera it just displays the "card locked" message on the screen.  Is there something else that I need to do to the card other than enable the "boot" flag in gparted?

I'm on a Mac, and didn't use gparted, so I'm not sure. (I copied the boot sector over using dd, and then used a hex editor to add the word BOOTDISK in the appropriate place, and copied the boot sector back to my SD card.)

"flagged as boot" does not mean the MS-DOS bootflag in the partition table! Please read Bootable SD card - CHDK Wiki or use the cardtricks tool.

ps:
Just a reminder: This is the "SD1100/ixus 80 porting" thread and not the SDboot howto!
I want to see posts of happy users here !!!
