Development for the 5D mk II

I have posted this in another forum here and hope there is no hard feelings for cross posting but I guess it belongs here.

I just wanted to say I started Canon hack as an initiative for someone to hack the 5D II. I know that right now there is not a lot in the fund however I'm hoping to keep whipping up interest for this as more people get the 5D II in their hand and realize the limitations.

So hopefully soon enough there will be enough there to get something extra for fixing the hack. Altho to be honest it should probably be the glory of the hack that is the main reward :-)

How about a hack for the mk I first?   :)

The MK II has a lot of untapped creative potential and a lot of people are desperately hoping someone will work on this.

I am a MK II owner. I'm also an engineer who's done some minor development before (real basic C and C++). I'm currently working hard to learn ARM assembly and how to use IDA for firmware analysis, because I'd really like to work on this. The first step is to get a firmware dump, so I can actually start analyzing it in IDA. Which leads me to a question:

Has a DSLR firmware been dumped from camera in the past? I've been through most of the threads in the DSLR forum and it seems like most of the development surrounding the 40D has been from a decrypted firmware update file. I'm concerned we may have to wait for the first firmware update to be posted, so we can decrypt and analyze.

If anyone else is interested in development, and you have working ARM assembly/IDA knowledge, feel free to PM me.

Where did you read that the 5Dmk2 has a MPEG encoding chip?

If you read the reviews, there is never a note in the specs that it has a specific video encoding chip.

AFAIK the work is done by the DIGIC4?

The only thing I think my 50D lacks is videomode, even 640x480 25fps would ease the pain of not having a 5Dmk2 ;)
