mod edit:
People have uncroverably bricked their cameras attempting to use this hack. Make sure you know what you are doing and understand the risks before proceeding. Any use is AT YOUR OWN RISK

tested on 350d firmware v1.0.3

1) use a fully charged battery, copy scanled.fir to cf card, run it from firmware update menu,
scanled.fir will update boot flag in camera to make it possible boot from cf card.

2) write cf card MBR:

FAT16:
at 0x2B "EOS_DEVELOP"
at 0x40 "BOOTDISK"

FAT32:
at 0x47 "EOS_DEVELOP"
at 0x5C "BOOTDISK"

3) copy autoexec.bin to root of cf card and power on, if the red and blue led flash,  the autoexec.bin is loaded.
now your 350d can boot from cf card.

Thanks dude, at least someone started to do something about 350d / Rebel XT it's -a small step, but a step...

If You have some time it would be great if You can hack sth to allow using ISO H/3200, point light measuring
or at least "service menu" that allows to read shutter count...

Release count and iso3200 for 350D
copy autoexec.bin to root of cf card and power on.
press <menu> to open the main menu, then press <DP>, after beep, iso 3200 is done.
enjoy it.

This works! Thank you very much! The amount of noise at 3200 is really interesting i must say... i would have expected much more.

Two questions:
1. Can the boot-flag-thing be reverted?
2. Where do i see the release count?

Edit:
Answer to my second question: it is in STDOUT.TXT on the card.

hotvedt:
try this attachment.
first time you run it, cf boot will be enabled.
and 2nd time,  it will be reverted.

Works! The reason i wanted this is that with bootflag on, the camera seems to be logging everything, even when camera turned off. In case this would affect battery or something.
-
I notice after activating the iso3200, the CFn-icon shows in the little lcd-panel, what function is beeing turned on?
It is not any of the ones i can see in the menu.

Thanks maaiohwmai!
As i can see, my camera have only 36k shots (not ~60 as i presumed) :D

It would be great to see also point light measuring (but activated using other key than DP for example using "Jump" button)

And before, a monument for You will be built for this, i would like to see also:
(next useful thing (after point metering) if You can enable this, would be manual wb setting (you know, in K degrees, just like in higher models), and last, (because i've seens trings relating to this) least needed but also useful is "safety shift in AV mode")

btw is it possible to add "H/3200" option in iso menu (not via DP)

@hotvedt - yes, there is C.Fn changed, as i've seen in comments in code, there is (hidden) C.Fn 8 changed for ISO H

I can also confirm that this works on the 350D for shutter count
