Hi all, just registered yesterday.
I have a Canon A 620 & managed to install CHDK Version 0.9.8 755 & it seems to be working fine so far.I'd been reading as to how with scripts you can make your camera do extraordinary things, but first you need to find the scripts & the method of d/l & installing/running them.
So, my first Qn to all you experienced gentlemen-is MDFB090814 compatible with my A 620 ?
If not, then which motion Detect script is?
And lastly,(some handholding plz, I'm not a very "technical" guy)how do I find/d/l/install & run it?
I'm sorry to drag you guys into handling basic stuff like this but once I learn, I guess I'll be able to do more things on my own.
Thanks & Regards.
With Regards,
Kamal

fudgey, great job with this script, and excellent readme file!  I noticed in the readme it says to use P mode instead of Auto mode.  May I ask why P mode is better than Auto mode?  Thank you.

I tested this script with SX110IS and the javascript test site. Best result I got were 100ms. Also seems to work well with flash. Nice script! And yes, indeed an excellent read me.

EDIT: After better tweaking and set-up I got times down to 50-80ms :o lowest ones I got were 45 but I believe it has something to do with the LCD  ???

Which parameters did you tweak?  My A650 seems to get anywhere between 120 and 220 ms.

Hello & welcome, Kamal !

Yes !

And lastly,(some handholding plz, I'm not a very "technical" guy)how do I find/d/l/install & run it?
- Download the file "MDFB-080914.zip" from this post: fudgey's Fast MD
- unzip the archive to a folder on your hard disc
- read the file "MDFB-080914.txt", it's a plain text file with all informations about the script       <---------- !
- copy the file "MDFB-080914.bas" to the folder \CHDK\SCRIPTS on your SD card using a card reader
- start your camera with CHDK, press PRINT to enter the <Alt> mode, then press FUNC/SET to enter the CHDK script menu
- select "Load script from file..." with the FUNC/SET button
- navigate (with the UP / DOWN keys) down & select the script ("MDFB-080914.bas") with the FUNC/SET button
- now you're back in the CHDK script menu; here you can see the adjustable parameters of the script...
- press PRINT to leave the <Alt> mode; your script selection & settings are still saved...

To start the script
- switch your camera to record mode
- press PRINT to enter <Alt> mode, you'll see the script's name in the mini console on the OSD
- start the script with the SHUTTER button

  • You can stop the script again with the SHUTTER button
  • To use your camera without the script just leave the <Alt> mode with PRINT after you have stopped the script...

Have fun with it !

OK, well I tried increasing the rows/cols, and also tried decreasing threshold, and also tried decreasing pixel step, and tried increasing the compare interval, and my A650 won't go lower than 120 ms (and still gets 200 ms frequently).
