i just found a way to shutdown lcd. just plugin a jack of a headphonecable or any other jack that is suitable. motion detection still works. dont know if you save energy though, because the a/v output also consumes power *have to analyze it somehow*
A nice find indeed. Tried it successfully on my a570is.
IMO, it's highly unlikely that the a/v output would draw a significant amount of power compared to the LCD+backlight.
Of course, this way the script itself can't have any control over the display or power usage, but at least we now know one easy way to conserve batteries using current builds!
