Hi,

Just bought this camera. I need RAW.

I have an 8gb card, class 6 SDHC. It comes formatted with fat 32.

I would like to do to boot with raw support. I have Downloaded the allbest-a710-100a-12. Is the the file I need?

I have seagate disk wizard and can create a partition, how large should that be?

Well there are newer versions ... indeed allbest - 31
is available.
Autoboot feature will only work on partions with Fat (16).
This can only be 2 GB (or with some tricks 4 GB I think).
But there is a way to use 2 Partions, too. This requires the camera to patched, so that it uses the other part. .
I don't know if that feature is already available for a710.
At least you should be able to put PS.FIR on your 8GB FAT32 and manually update. If you don't need it that often.

Well, thanks. I need it 100% of the time. Raw that is...

I guess the easy way is to use 2gb cards, formatted at fat 16 and put the CHDK files on the 2gb card? Then just delete the images and not format the card. If I format the card, then I have to put the CHDK files back after format?

I see I have a lot to learn about how to get a raw file out of this camera and into Capture One.

Well, maybe I can help... (For 8+Gb card, WinXP and users of A710, A630, A640, S3IS, G7, A560, A570) (without HDD driver)

Download ~~experimental~~ build from ~~http://ewavr.nm.ru/hdk/for_test/~~ Allbest
Copy ps.fir to empty card and start CHDK manually.
In debug menu select "Make card with two partitions", "Yes". After this - "Swap partitions". Power off the camera.
Now FAT32 partition is first. Insert card in card reader and format this partition as FAT32: format x: /fs:fat32
Copy ps.fir again to card and start CHDK manually. In debug menu select "Swap partitions". Power off the camera.
Now FAT partition is first. Insert card in card reader and format this partition as FAT: format x: /fs:fat
Copy to card ps.fir and diskboot.bin. Make card bootable using bootable exe (bootable.exe x:). Lock the card and insert it in camera.
CHDK must start automatically. Enjoy!

If you want to read files from this card without camera, make before this "Swap partitions" procedure (and again after).
Formatting card in camera destroys all partitions.
