how do I get Bridge / CS2 to accept my IXUS 950 / SD 850 RAW files!?

hiya peeps..
I've got an IXUS 950 (otherwise known as an SD850 in the US?)
anywaze, I've fired up CHDK on it..
all cool, except I can't seem to figure for the life of me how to get Photoshop to accept my CRW files..

I transfer them from my SD card into a folder..
fire up Bridge..
it shows them all as "generic" CRW thumbnails..
and when I go to right click, all it offers is to open in Photoshop CS2
but when I do that, it says it's the "wrong type of file"..

I could've sworn (back when I worked in a photolab) that it SHOULD supply an option "open in Camera Raw"
but I can't see that..

just to be sure I downloaded the update (I think 3.7?), but it still came up with grief..
I also tried the DNG converter but it spat some "parsing" error attempting to convert the files..

does CHDK actually support RAW for IXUS 950?
does my Photoshop / Bridge just refuse RAW from an IXUS 950 to annoy me?
or am I missing something else obscure?

any help appreciated :)

The CRW files you get from CHDK are not actually CRW Canon's format. They are named like that just to keep consistency.

As Barney says, Adobe doesn't support CHDK raw files. IMO is a matter of business, not photography nor technology. >:(

You have to convert them to DNG for Photoshop's ACR to open them.

Which DNG converter did you try?, This? DNG4PS-2

Keep trying with the DNG conversion. If you still have problems, contact the author. He goes by the name of ArtDen in this forum.

sweet, I'll look into that..

I guess the NEXT dumb question is..
how DO I delete the RAWS off my memory card whilst using the camera?

I know I could just wait till I get home and zap them with my computer,
but I'm a live gig photographer and often take upto 100-200 shots a band in effort to nail the good ones..
(when dealing in next to no stage lighting and lots of idiots running around, it's kinda par for the course)

is there a similar CHDK menu that pops up in playback I'm not aware of?
