Ok. this has probably been talked about before.
After downloading the CHDK Upgrade with the proper PDF instructions, my camera still couldn't recognized the program.
I was playing around with the buttons for an hour and a half and eventually, formatted my SD Card and gave up.

A friend of told me that this upgrade works on some cameras but not all... :(
Oh well, so much for trying to demonstrate this.

CHDK works on A720.
You must be doing something wrong. Have something to eat, take a nap and try again. :)

hmmm?? since when could you "upgrade" chdk? (afaik you can only install new build).

Just try with a fresh new build and...
1) download cardtricks
2) download the a720is chdk build
3) put in your card
4) format using cardtricks
5) make bootable using cardtricks
6) copy over CHDK build using cardtricks CHDK->Camera
7) take card out. flip write protect switch ON (REMEMBER THIS!!!!!!!)
8) put into cam

aaaaand it should work. if it still doesn't post back, tell me what you see when you start it up, and i will try to help you :)

Had the same prob when I first loaded CHDK to my 720IS.  It was something stupid I did, of course.  I copied the zipped file to the SD card.  When I copied the unzipped file everthing worked perfectly.
