Title: a590 update firmware from 100e to 101b
Post by: trismarck on 01 / October / 2011, 07:15:08
Hi,

I've got two a590 IS cameras, one has the 100e firmware version, the other has 101b version.
Is there a way I can update one of my camera firmware so both cameras would use the same firmware version?
I've searched through the canon website, but haven't found any official firmware updates for a590 IS.
Can I dump the firmware from one camera and load that dumped firmware to the second camera? If yes, how to do it?

Regards.

This is actually a common request here on the CHDK forum.

But unless you can find an update file from Canon,  you are stuck.   Canon does not release such files very often for its P&S cameras - usually only if there is a major bug.

The CHDK firmware dumps are not suitable for changing the firmware on another camera.
