Thanks, guys!  It sure is nice not to have to swap partitions every time I want to transfer pics from the card.  :)

Hi..

First, thanks for developing this software...

Second... After follow all you steps:

- format the card in the camera
- copy the full CHDK release to the card (you need DISKBOOT.BIN, and PS.FI2 plus the CHDK directory)
- lock the card and start the camera with the rear playback button
- press Menu and select 'Firm Update...' from the bottom of the first menu
- when CHDK reboots enter <ALT> mode
- select 'Make Card Bootable' from the 'Miscellaneous Stuff' CHDK menu
- restart the camera and CHDK should now autoboot

I can't fin the <ALT> mode or menu after the camera reboot...

Mi card is and sandisk 8GB 30Mb/s, so I believe that there is no trouble with the card... so... what's the problem?

Any help, please?

Did you see the CHDK logo when you selected "firmware update" ?

If so, then the <ALT> mode button should probably be the Print / Shortcut button above the left hand side of your LCD display.  When you press it,  you should see an <ALT> symbol in the bottom center of your LCD display.

Another 1.00f testbuild (0.0.4), now the ISO override problem is fixed for 1.00f port (with help of philmoz :) ).

Testbuild 0.0.5: 1.00f build including changeset 1416: "Disable RAW on SX40HS in 'HQ Burst' and 'Handheld Night Scene' modes. Causes corruption of JPEG and/or RAW/DNG files."

Thanks for the night scene workaround!

looks like there is nothing between 1416 and 1417, but 1417 for 1.00f gave this error:
Code: [Select]
boot.c: In function 'blink':
boot.c:49:1: warning: 'noreturn' function does return

1.00g has blink commented out :)

Thanks, Janos

I am having trouble  loading the firmware.

I followed the readme and when I hit the firm update button the Chdk screen loads real quick then the no image text appears on the screen. Do I need to wait longer? What should I do?

If you saw the CHDK splash screen it means CHDK is now loaded and ready to use.
By default CHDK starts in playback mode unless you hold the on/off button down for about 1/2 second when starting the camera.

Press the 'Print' button to enter CHDK <ALT> mode, then you can access the CHDK menus using the Menu button.

Phil.
