neither of the links (for pdf, .doc files) at the start of this post are working for me. Have the files been relocated and if so where?

You'll find the online version here: CHDK wikia: CHDK/End-Users-Guide-AllBest50, there's also a link to the pdf file version.

@an0n

Noticed a missing item (i'm using  V1.6.0_A4):

Although "Swap Partitions" is referred to in the section about "Create Card with two partitions" (p. 45) , it
does not have it's own entry, which should be in the "Miscellaneous Stuff" menu section, between "Make Card Bootable"
and "Reset Options to default" (p. 43)

thanks, and keep up the great work !

Wim,
thanks for the feedback, (at last, some feedback) :) I will make that "Swap partitions" entry. It is getting to the stage where
I am thinking of quitting doing updates because without the required feedback it is hard to know what is needed, I only
have one canon camera (A720) and it does not have the same menu entries as some other cameras. By the way, for a
while now the Word 2007 format file for the Quick Start User Guide has been at the DropIO page with the PDF files, in
case anyone wants it. I used another application to make the Guide and it did not export exactly to Word format but it's
fairly close, just needs a few adjustments here and there.

Thanks again, cheers.

Edit. 25th. Latest update V1.6.7, (Includes Swap partitions) is now at Drop IO.

Hi guys,

The page 18 says:
******
More about RAW
To get the RAW files onto your computer you must use a flash card
reader.
*****

Well, I was able to read those files from the camera directly (Canon S2 IS) on WINXP (this trick neither worked on WIN2K or MacOS). The necessity to extract the SD card every time when one needs to download raw files was a bad news (at least for me).  I tried different software, such as Cam4you, ZoomBrowser Ex (6.x - the utility from Canon), some other stuff for reading images on WNDOWS and MacOS. Finally I opened the camera as a volume and could see/copy/delete my all my pictures (JPG and CRW).  Important thing to note: If you take a picture and the camera is already connected to PC you may not see those RAW files (with both extension, CRW and JPG in my case). You have to power off/on the camera and press the "Refresh" button in the Windows Explorer to make to to re-read the card (if required). Why this step (powering off) is needed? I think it somehow connected with the method of caching/writing data on SD card  (my assumption).

At the attached screenshot you will notice that I have a raw file with .jpg file extension - this is how I tricked the Canon utility (CameraWindow) to make it to download the raw file. Obviously, it could not show it (preview) but it did not mind to download it to my PC. Anyway, I like and will use the direct copying from the Windows Explorer.

*** offtopic ***
And the last but not least. The reason why I tried cam4you was that I wanted to use remote shooting (need to make tests with the pictures) and copy the file on the computer immediately. Well, it did not work for me, I tried ion WIN2K and WINXP, and finnaly filed an error report. But another Cannon utility (CameraWindow), does allow remote shooting with a possibility to set some settings and so on...

Best,
Marko
