It looks good. I have seen you have some new information in the log file.
Only the script version, I think.

I would be helpful, if you could post the saved parameter sets, so I have only to copy it on my SD card to test the same set of parameters.
Not a bad idea. I've attached the one from this run. It's for newer version of the script than the last one I posted here, bit I don't think I've changed any of the menu parameters.

Tonight we have a full lunar eclipse. Hope the weather clears up.
Same here, the above was a test run for the eclipse. Good luck.

edit:
Note attached has #ui_image_size_e=3 => M2 image size, which is 1600x1200 on this camera, but may be a different resolution on others. I usually shoot at this size since I render the videos at 720 lines anyway, and it keeps the disk space down.

One of the things on my longer term "todo" list - named parameter sets.

Unfortunately the weather was bad at the Lunar Eclipse.
The first video was created with the SX230.
Video 2-4 with G1x.
Video 2 and 3 only have a frame rate of 5 frames per second

This is a run from last night. There is also an overexposure at beginning, when the moon comes out. I’m not sure if a higher max_ev_change would be helpful.
The video starts from picture 150 in the log file. I’m using only 1920*1080 pixel from the full sensor size.

http://youtu.be/pzHb8i1EtlE

Update:

I analyzed the log file. It’s the time, which the algorithm needs when he comes from the highest ISO and longest Tv time. With ev_change from 8 it takes time until overexposure is gone. I made a new run this night with Tv max = 1s. This goes much faster. Additional I will increase now max ev_change.

Updated scripts attached. This is a minor update that doesn't affect script logic. Changes are:

* Fix the over /under frac logging logging pointed out by c_joerg in http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=11081.msg124673#msg124673. When I updated the histogram to parts per million in the previous version, I forgot to update the format string to 4 digits, so what should have been 1.0nnn would be logged as 1.nnn. This only affected the logged values, not the calculations.
* Update the rawop ev <=> raw calls for trunk r4241
* Log script version in the log
* Add a wait to allow shooting to complete before restoring settings like image size and raw enable.
* saved scripts in LF instead of CRLF format to reduce size
Don't forget what the H stands for.

I came just back from a trip and I had a strange error with my G1x. I can’t reproduce it anymore so I am not sure, if it is worse to talk about.

On my G1x I had an older version of rawopint and CHDK. With this combination I had a lot of runs at home without any problems.

On the trip, the same combination makes problems. I started rawopint and after a couple of shoots (between 40 -80 shoots), the camera goes off. I made this 3 times, only the number of shoots differs.

Interesting about this runs was, the rawopint log file include always only the first info line, no shoots where logged. The ROMLOG of all this runs says something about ‘System Panic’.

I formatted the SD card and I copied the same versions of rawopint and CHDK on the SD card again. After this, I had no problems anymore…

Good to post anyway, in case someone else runs into it later.

This isn't too surprising, the script writes and flushes the header at start up. After that, it's buffered by the OS, and presumably only written when the buffer is full or the script ends.

Was this firmware 101a? I seem to remember you had two different ones, and one had some hardware problems?

The romlog doesn't show anything immediately obvious to me. It seems to point to ff45f958 which the sigfinder calls _divmod_signed_int. Unfortunately the panic doesn't tell us what task was involved, and I'm not sure what the module and panic codes mean (figuring them out would probably be useful).

Card problems are possible, but it seems a little strange.

Yes I have a 101a and a 100e. I’m using only the 101a right now. The 101a had the hardware problems in the past. But since I reset the 101a one, I didn’t have problems anymore.

For me as well. Unfortunately I deleted also all CHDK and rawopint setting. It might be also a combination of setting, which I have not used before…

I've found another reason for using the overexposure stuff in timelapse. White boots in the ocean on sunrise (or sunsets). When I have processed and investigated my runs, I will post it here.

Hello reyalp,

I have just a question for understanding.

Which influence has ‘ui_ev_shift_e’ (Ev shift) in case of a scene which is controlled by overexposure?

I understand what happens on a scene without overexposure. When I set Ev shift to -1/2EV, meter96 goes to -48, which I expect.

But when I have an overexposed scene, may be overexposure is set to 1%, than ‘ui_ev_shift_e’ don’t have an influence or?

After starting of analyzing the Data from my last trip, I’m thinking, I it would be helpful, to have two parameters for ‘ui_max_ev_change_e’. One for up and one for down. So on a overexposed scene, the algorithm could go faster down and slower up.

Greats
