S120 please please please! :)

I'm really, really hoping someone will do CHDK for the S120. One of the reasons I decided to get this camera (as opposed to non-Canon alternatives) was that I assumed I could always hack it with CHDK for timelapse and other features! I have no coding skills myself, but would gladly help crowd-fund this effort  8) Thanks!

Bad news I'm afraid.

CHDK not ported to the S120 and to make matters worse,  the S120 uses the new DIGIC6 chip, for which there are currently no CHDK porting tools.   Any port for a DIGIC6 chip based camera must be done "from scratch" by a very experience person with access to the camera, lots of time & patience, and a desire to do the port.

In other words, it could take a long time for anything to happen. For example, there is currently only one DIGIC6 camera partially ported and after many months it is still not complete.

Crowd funding is an interesting concept but I'm guess this might take over 200 hours for somebody who knows what they are doing.

That would be so nice!
Clearly I would take part of the crowdfunding for that!

I choose my camera considering that it have CHDK available. A S120 winks to me too, but when I read about the lack of CHDK support, I choose my SX510HS. And, for now, I don't regret at all.

CHDK is ... CHDK, but the S120 is a very nice camera with a lot of features you can play with in the meanwhile:
-1,8 f lens
-native RAW
-12800 ISO
-manual controls
-HDR
-Time Lapse

Enjoy your camera  ;)
