The "reboot" function does not work well either, because I still have the problem that some cameras don't start up reliable. Sometimes I can see just CHDKs splash screen, then the camera turn off. This happens both when using reboot from script and when turning the camera on manually.

That sounds like a bug in the port for this camera.

Can you create a ROMLOG.LOG dump after one of these crashed startups (Miscellaneous Stuff, Debug Parameters, Save ROM crash log).
Upload the ROMLOG.LOG file here.

Phil.

Hello Phil,

here it is. I had a look into it, and since PTPRspnd.StartUpPTPFrameworkClient is the last entry I tried to reboot the camera also USB-unplugged. Does not matter, same LOG contents.

A script with a single reboot() almost always shuts down the camera completely. I even can't start it then manually, I have to take off the battery.

Thanks a lot!

I built a CHDK version with OPT_PTP disabled, and indeed the error has gone. I started a script with only the line reboot() maybe 40 times, everything ok.

As soon as I have the OPT_PTP enabled the error is there again. Strange that it only happens sometimes. Can I do some more debugging so one gets some deeper infos?

Hmmmm. Now I have the option enabled again but this time it seems ok. I don't understand this... Sometime it is very sporadic, sometimes not.

Ah, it seems the error only happens when having the lens extended. I wil try some more, but I'll have time that evening...
