I have an A610 and a S3IS, and I can confirm that the A610 has far less noise. I have night photos taken with the A610 at ISO400 (using CHDK RAW) that are really quite acceptable without further processing. After using Noise Ninja on these shots from the A610 they are better than I thought it would be possible to get from a (fairly) compact camera.

I mostly use a 5D, but I have no hesitation in using the A610 in situations where the DSLR is not appropriate. Used within its limitations, the A610 is still a real gem.

TheS3IS is good where I need a compact camera with a longer lens and when I want to use movie mode with zoom, but it is much noisier than the A610 (and it is bit too big to be classed as a compact camera).

I played around with Topaz denoise, and I must say that I am pretty impressed! Normally, the differences between all denoise softwares are pretty marginal (and I tested lots of them!), but Topaz works drastically differently!
At first, I was like "C'mon! This piece of sh** isn't even doing a profile before denoising!"...and i must say that if you play with the sliders, the results are nothing short of amazing!
However, I will continue to use Neat Image for most of my pics, simply because Topaz is SOOOOO SLLOOOOOOOOWWWW! That is a shame!
Well, anyway, thank you for the tip ;)
