Hi David,

No one responded to my offer until your post. I've a mate a tech in Canon UK and I asked him last week to see if their camera techs would install rev. 1.00g on my G9. He's optimistic that they will do that. If that fails, I'll get back to you to see if you can find a developer to do the port to rev. 1.00I.

Hi Dermot,
I'm also an 1.00H g9 firmware owner and I'm really frustrated.
So yes please let me know if there is any way to go back to the 1.00g firmware!!!!!!

Thanks so much.  I have been waiting a long time for this. 


Some test results.

1. Optical zoom works well in standard resolution video
2. Optical zoom does not function in Hi-res video
3. Focus (while recording) works well in standard video
4. Focus (while recording) causes a crash in Hi-res video

so, this means that in theory*, people with the 1.00h fw can upgrade to 1.00i (with the "leaked" fw upgrade by canon) and finally have chdk on their cams. as always: nice move, ewavr.

* we do NOT endorse or support REAL firmware upgrades, you do this on your own risk - the folks at CHDK will and can not be held responsible for this kind of actions you take.

I can confirm that I moved from firmware 1.00H to 1.00I this morning smoothly (make sure your battery is fully charged before trying this!)

the chdk firmware posted by ewavr loaded on G9 correctly.  Not had a chance to test it functionally yet.

Multipartition support not done yet, please test video compression (do not set quality above 85%, please) , CHDK RAW and shooting override.
