i have managed to load the CHDK sent by nafraf with the bootable SD card method.

so far still testing it.

while in recording mode, when i load the CHDK by pressing the replay key..
the CHDK menu come out, but will get interrupt by the focus frame of the camera.

other than that, still fiddling with it.
there's no aperture control on the CHDK.
i want to try long exposure but can't control aperture size...

There's no aperature control because the A3400 does not have a variable aperature.  CHDK can't control what isn't there.   The effective aperature changes with zoom len position but that's not the same thing.  You can play with the camera's ND filter under manual control with CHDK.

from canon website... the aperture size for a3400is is f/2.8, f/7.9 (W), f/6.9, f/20 (T)
meaning if i want to use longer exposure time i need to zoom at 5x so that the aperture is at f/20?
please forgive my noobness...

That's correct.  But a better way to increase the exposure time and still get the same exposure level is to lower the ISO setting.

So anyone kind enough to send me the files for the CHDK for A3400 101b prealpha or alpha version?

thx :) Need it for a aerial balloon photography run we are doing on friday, so the sooner the beter. PLease :)

Hey I got CHDK loaded I just can't figure out how to make it shoot RAW. I see the add RAW file extension option in the remote settings. The camera only saves jpegs and no other folders are created. please and thank you.

You should be able to just enter <ALT> mode,  go to the CHDK menu, select the RAW menu and enable it there.  You have to exit <ALT> to actually take any pictures - the RAW images will be stored on the SD card along with the JPG's.

Nvm I think getting an older model that doesnt have a touch screen may fix the issue faster...^^

However, I am using 101a vers. and it seems the scripts have not yet been polished.
