1000d development - need developers (initial work done)

A friend of mine has a Rebel XS and hates the fact that he is limited to ISO1600, anyone interested in started a port? (chuchin, pelican, indy, alex, etc).

It's a pretty stripped down camera basically identical to the XSi (450d), so I wonder if everything is already there and just needs to be unlocked?

You guys have been cranking out new builds pretty fast, why not 1 more?  :)

Also, as someone who attempted to dive into the whole ML thing, I can say I have a new appreciation and understanding for the hard work put into this. Seriously, a lot of people don't understand just how much time and work goes into all of this.

Canon 1000D has a Digic III and runs VxWorks so the porting needs more efforts.

I'd also highly appreciate to be able to shoot ISO 1600 and have spot metering enabled. That would be awesome, especially since the 1000d would then be on pair with the 450d.

Also, AEB with more than 3 steps would be fantastic.

Thanks for any contribution on this!

the 450d dumper already initializes VxWorks in autoboot context, so it is a good starting point.
...and you've got hacks on 350d and 400d

See http://magiclantern.wikia.com/wiki/Other_dslr

I personally tested 450d dumper with success and called dumpf()

400plus is shaping up nicely and is much easier to port on 1000D, since it's on VxWorks too.

A little bit of an update, I have been playing around with it lately. I have my code posted here:

https://bitbucket.org/coutts/1000d_dev/overview

Right now I have enabled the bootflag but I can't get it to boot autoexec.bins. if I make the card bootable and put an autoexec.bin file on it, as soon as I close the card door the blue print LED comes on and the camera won't turn on. It will do this until I make the card not bootable again.

Odd...

Thanks alot for your contribution Coutts! Have been waiting so long to see some progress on the 1000d development.

Especially unlocking ISO 3200 and Spot Metering would be fantastic.
Please keep up the great work.

My source can be found here:
https://bitbucket.org/coutts/1000d_dev

It's all set for a developer who understands more than me, I have only made it flash the LED, but this at least means we are running code. There are also some good example projects in there to learn from as well.

Sorry :P it was fun playing with the 1000d haha.
