I've got the SX30 port to a state where I think it is ready for beta testing.

Good work Phil !

This is for camera firmware version 1.00H.

Quote
Splash screen and menu palette colors are off due to very limited palette available

That seems to be the trend with the latest cameras.

Quote
DNG thumbnail colors are a bit strange.

Just been testing saving raw strip images with separate DNG headers and I do not bother saving the thumbnail or EXIF info.
On the A620 the file saving time is about 0.9 seconds.

Quote
- Shooting override of shutter speed (seems to work to 1/8000 sec).

How do you know ?

Is the image three stops darker than at 1/1000 sec ?

Great work Phil.  For the shutter speed, can it be decreased up to 30s?
I have 1.00L. Can I still try this beta version? If not, anything I can do to help in porting that version?

EDIT: Tried it and apparently does not work for 1.00L. Anything to include 1.00L version?

Won't work for 1.00E, either.  Didn't think it would, but it was worth a shot.   :P

The canon dumper scripts (http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Canon_Basic/Scripts/Dumper) should work if you want to try dumping the 1.00L firmware from your camera.

If you are able to extract it and send it to me I can see how much difference there is from 1.00H, although until Canon release a firmware update I won't be able to test it.

Unless there's a major bug, they never will.

I have tried card tricks 1.44 but did not work (with newdryos, dryos, and vxworks) and they don't seem to work. I am a newbie to CHDK and not sure what to do with the basic script you pointed to!

The cardtricks dumpers definitely will not work.

The main canon basic page http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Canon_Basic has information on how to use it.

Haven't done any controlled tests yet; but images get progressively darker at 1/2000, 1/4000, 1/8000 and 1/16000. 1/8000 is perhaps 2/3rds of a stop darker the 1/4000. 1/16000 is about 1/3rd stop darker than 1/8000 and I can't see any difference beyond 1/16000.

Regards,
Phil.

I have some basic C and BASIC knowledge, but still...Sorry! Maybe I have overestimated my coding skills. I downloaded the HEX viewer, but still don't know what to do!
EDIT: I have followed what is posted in this post http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=17.msg57996#msg57996 (using universal dumper) but still nothing. Once i press Func/Set button the camera goes off and no dump is found in the SD card. Then I used the basic (not the universal) and got a .bin file. I have uploaded the file to PRIMARY.BIN - 7.94MB

Is there anything else I can do?
