My USB Remote Shutter Trigger

So after reading about the remote shutter trigger i set off to make my own. This first one was made with materials laying around the house. I have an IXUS70/SD1000, and it seemed to react to 3.67v from a cellphone battery fine but i couldnt think how i would use that, so i tried a 9v battery. it responded fine to that without frying the camera. Here is my first version (lol):

Today i went to radioshack and got some supplies to build a better one. Heres what i started with:

And heres what i ended up with:

this is awesome! It works great and i cant wait to try it out on some long exposure shots! WOOT CHDK!!!!

BTW For those of you wondering i used this script for it:

Code: [Select]
@title Remote button

while 1
  wait_click 1
  if is_key "remote" then shoot
wend
end

For those of you wondering how it works, i have the black ground wire from the usb cable connected to the 9v battery, and a switch between the positive cable from the battery and the positive cable from the usb cable. When i click the button it sends the current to the camera and it snaps the picture. I dont know how this would work on other cameras so be careful experimenting!! I heard the IXUS70/SD1000 needs atleast 5v of power to respond but mine worked fine with 3.7v.
