Hi all,

I wonder if anyone could help me to upgrade the firmware on my old digital ixus 40. The camera has v1.00 today and I need v1.00j or k to be able to install SDM on the memory card.
I have found a dump of the firmware called primary.bin but I dont know how I can install it on my camera. Can somebody help me?

v1.00 is not not your full firmware version, Canon always has a letter suffix. You need to find the full version. See http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ#Q._How_can_I_get_the_original_firmware_version_number_of_my_camera.3F

This camera is very old, chances are it is one of the known versions.

PRIMARY.BIN is a firmware dump. Practically speaking, you cannot upgrade using a firmware dump.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Thank you!

I am totally new to this. The firmware was actually v1.00k so I got SDM installed now without problems  :)
