I think i got STICK to work with a 4gig card, so when i start the camera i get the logo, but i don't know how to get to the menu or change any paramaters...this camera doesn't have a print button (at least not that I'm seeing?)...

And I have a trickle charger on my bike that I'm attaching the camera to, so I'm not terribly worried about the battery...finally, a question I CAN answer!  8)

Press the "Play" button quickly.   A longer press gives you its original function.

I tested it with a video camera, and it lasted a good 8 hours, but not with a camera...oh, nertz...there's no charging bay...SONOFA!  >:( ....this has been my whole day.

There are lots of threads here about external batteries.   You can get cheap chinese 120 VAC to battery insert adapters on eBay ( although I've had to replace capacitors on my cheap ones to keep them running ) ... or you can use a small switching power supply to convert from your motorcycle battery to camera battery voltage.  But its just one more complication.

A better plan might be to buy several spare batteries.  The Canon ones are pricey ($40 or so) - I have four different Canon cams running "no name" batteries from Amazon and I can't tell the difference.  Just swap batteries every time you stop to empty "something else".

Thanks, I do have the spare charger, so i can charge with my bikes trickle charge and then just swap.

I still can't figure out why i can't get any version of the install working with the 32 gig card though. I don't wanna have to do this 7 more times with 4gig cards to get a decent amount of memory...blargh

The SD1200 is pretty much an orphan port.  I looked at the source code after my previous port and there is stuff there not finished related to FAT32 usage.  It's not you -  the code is incomplete.

However, if you use the "firmware update" method of loading (which is NOT what STICK gives you) then you can use the complete FAT32 formatted 32G SD card.

I tried the firmware way of doing it and it apparently hates me as well....I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right, it just doesn't wanna go. sad face.

Firmware update has a few tricks - its in the docs.

1) There needs to be a ps.fi2 file in the root directory of you SD card.  STICK should have put it there but check anyway.
2) You need to start the camera by pressing the playback button - NOT the On/Off button!
3) Go to the Canon menus immediately on startup (by pressing the MENU key) and scroll down looking for the firmware update menu item.

Hi Kurt - sorry not to get into this thread earlier, but I think Waterwingz has located the source of your problem.

In fact, given that you'll need to change batteries at some point, you could prepare two cards of 4Gb or less and switch cards when you switch batteries.

IT WORKS! Thanks so much, I did it with a little tom-foolery (ended up copying and pastiong the files in the 4 gig card into the 32 and using the firmware method) but it works!

I downloaded the timelapse script and that seems to work as well! killer!

I have one last question, is there a way to turn off the lcd display while the timelapse is running to save battery life?
