Ah, thanks.  Appreciate that clarification.

I notice that I can see the image correctly in the camera, but when I try to look at it on the computer, it looks scrambled.   Am I correct to assume that the camera is looking at a JPG of the image,
Yes.

while the stored sensor image is scrambled because we're not doing a correct dump of it (as in the RAW image that's stored is messed up?)?
If you are talking about programs not understanding the "CR2" files, the best solution is to use DNG.

As waterwingz said the files CHDK saves as "CRW" or "CR2" are actually not in any format (they are not in the Canon formats that use the same extension), they are just a copy of the framebuffer. That means any program which wants to support these files must be updated for every new sensor layout. Many programs can open CHDK raw files from some cameras, because they have code for those specific formats (mostly borrowed from dcraw)

If you are talking about the intermittent bad files due to incorrect raw buffer, those are just dumps from some memory location that doesn't include the image data.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

MPetroff: Genuinely fast turnaround on this port from yourself. Thanks for sharing your work.
Did some limited user testing on 100f firmware and experience mirrors yours and other users.

The one additional issue I'm experiencing is that the subject distance bracketing options (Subj. Dist. Bracket setting under bracketing) does not seem to be activated when selected. All the other bracketing options work fine (ISO, shutter speed etc). Initially I thought it was the camera not being switched to manual focus however the CHDK summary display (when you initially exit the CHDK menu) never shows Subj. Dist. Bracket as being active.
Could someone else, able to, please kindly confirm focus bracketing works fine? Otherwise it will be a setting on my camera which I'm overlooking.

The subject distance options only work when auto-focus lock is enabled (half-shutter plus left while not in alt mode). With AFL enabled, subject distance bracketing works for me.

In order to include the IXUS225 in the recent program to upgrade CHDK's SD override capability, somebody needs to run the test procedure give here :  http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=11078.msg108859#msg108859  and post the results.

Can you do that?

Thanks for the swift response.
Indeed, you are correct and I apologise for the trouble. Beginner errors; I came across the Auto-Focus Lock option in another forum but didn't realise it was being disabled once I'd gone back in and straight out of the CHDK menu.
I partially bought this camera because of the superb close up abilities (for a camera of this size) so if the weather's OK, I'll be testing some of the bracketing functions for some DOF stacking runs.

While I was testing the AFL enabled subject bracketing I ran your Manual Focus Test script.
With AFL & MF disabled the script ran with no failures.
Attached is the CSV output for the run. Let me know if you require any more info.

Hi all,

Firmware version 100f here, using the build posted by mpetroff on 8 March 2014.

Biggest problem I can report is that EVERY one of my RAW files comes out in a scrambled pink / blue colour.  On my Ixus 75, there are no issues at all with RAW.

Also, not sure if this is normal behaviour, but when plugging the camera in via USB, I do not see the DNG files.  I presume this is because Windows or the camera is hiding them in MTP mode and only showing me the JPGs and MOVs.

A new build is attached to this post.

Fixes since previous build:
  • Proper DNG color matrix
  • Zebra offset issue fixed

Tested the raw functions with the latest build.  Still no luck, scrambled pink stuff.  I'm not sure the raw was part of the fix?  I'm guessing not?
