The local Sainsburys supermarket was selling camo coloured clip lock food boxes off end of line, very cheap (99 pence, in fact).
I thought they would be perfect for camera boxes, and as it happens my wife spotted an owl landing in one of the fence posts in the back garden last night, so I had the perfect excuse for messing about with CHDk and some gubbins from my workshop.
I used one of
these... (or something similar, I picked up a couple a while back, so the exact supplier is lost in the mists of time).
The camera is mounted inside the food box, on an old rectangular plastic box salvaged from the workshop, with a slot cut in it for the locking screw. The box is fixed to the food box lid with a couple of bits of duck tape. When I have a bit more time I am thinking of adding a PIR and a battery pack.
I have included a couple of
pics on Google+ for those who are interested.
It is too late tonight to set it up, but tomorrow I intend to leave the camera out with motion.bas running to see if it catches the owl's return.
