Reading manual its seems almost identical - A1400 optical zoom enable when video recording.

Could you please advice about difference - interesting in NiMh shots q-ty, A1300 say 500 with LCD 1000 viewfinder and i found a report say A1400 about 2000 viewfinder shots...

Hope A1400 CHDK will soon. i can buy A1300 or A1400 (firmware 1.00b available in the shop), please help to choose... Thank you

That's normal for this series A1100, A1200, A1300, A1400  -  only a few small changes between models.  And CHDK enables optical zoom while video recording for the A1100 - A1300 so the fact that the A1400 has it is not a big deal.

Pretty much normal - I would expect both cameras will have identical battery performance under identical settings.  However,  this site rates the A1300 higher on battery life :  http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-A1300-vs-Canon-PowerShot-A1400  I would "take that with a grain of salt" frankly.

Some Canon P&S cameras never get ported to CHDK (although the track record recently has been pretty good).
link>CHDK FAQ : My camera isn't ported yet

Still,  you can have CHDK on an A1300 today .. or hope for a A1400 at some point in the future.

If the A1300 saves you money,  I suggest you go that way.

another question, A1100 IS have optical stabilizer... i can buy A1100IS or A1300, which one you will recommend ? can i expect NiMh shots the same ?  someone said A1100 consume a lot of power...

To me, image stabilization is an important feature.

But the A1100 lens seems to have less range and a it has a smaller sensor.

As for power,  Canon's web page suggest the A1100 only gets 60% of the images of the A1300 (when tested with the same fresh batteries).

You too :)

How about the SX150IS...

SX150IS advantages are lens and zoom, but actually i need not. SX150IS have not optical viewfinder, so, accums life shorter compare if use viewfinder only. I looking for the Canon camera - AA accum + viewfinder cause max shots + image good quality (need not zoom). This camera for simple tracking, place where been (sometimes with Geo-Data) and to show to friend. Weight is important. So, my choose between A1100IS and A1300  (both CHDK)... A1100IS seems better - the same CCD size but less pixels (12 vs 16), optical stabilizer... so, seems i need to buy additional NiMh (and may be SD card) and this all...

The  SX150IS uses AA batteries, CHDK,  image stabilization, X12, 35mm equivalent 28-336mm, (M) manual control, PASM... but no optical view finder.
For the price ($119) that would be my choice.
But if an optical view finder is what you're looking for then it isn't for you.
